A new horror movie, starring Hugh Grant, has some moms of missionaries in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints concerned.

The movie is called "Heretic," and it isn't in theaters until November 15 of this year, but an A24 movie trailer was recently released. Online, it said the movie is about two young missionaries who get trapped inside a man's home.

"I was realistically horrified that someone would make a movie about torturing missionaries," Angie Cauble said. She's in a private Facebook group dedicated to helping moms of missionaries.

She said moms in this group have discussed the movie trailer.

But you let your son/daughter go on a mission for a church that covers up sexual abuse.

I totally understand the moms concern but I don't understand why it matters that the story line is missionaries. There are tons of stories like this or thrillers based on psychopaths and those subjects are just as important and just as much victims as anyone else. But no one stops those stories from being told even though the chance some sick headed individual well copycat is unfortunately very real for anyone. Maybe we should just focus on preparing and educating our kids on being safe and knowing how to protect themselves from predators rather than fussing over a fictional movie. However I do not at all think discrediting the moms concerns is smart or going to help anything. They're just being good moms and brave women for voicing their concerns which in this state is harder than it should be.

I wonder what these LDS Mom's thought of "Women Talking", which discusses all the normalized abuse within traditional, christian families. I also think it's very possible that a movie like this has already happened in real life. Given all the normalized abuse that is covered-up & ignored.

I would absolutely be worried as well. It's disgusting that they made a movie like that.

Perhaps it's time to stop your unwanted soliciting of strangers at their homes. The local lds cult sends handwritten letters, but at least they're safe to continue wasting their time. Many people believe religion is personal between themselves and god, whichever version they choose to follow.
