Also, I love this hobby! And being an audiophile and hifi gear head for many years as a bachelor, it’s definitely been a learning process or balance with the wifey 😆
Thank god for man caves and garages to continue my hobby.

I am off work and finally get to reply like I want haha: I kinda ended up into the audiophile world over the course of several years. First with my parents giant and heavy record player (I can still smell that thing to this day 😆) and then when I was in middle school band and learned about basic music theory. Then my brother bought an all in one Kenwood rack system including an integrated amp, tuner, cassette deck, record player with three way floor speakers. That thing actually rocked the house. I couldn’t wait until I started working and could afford my own stereo. I finally bought my own including a pioneer vsx-454 with some CD player and cassette deck that I don’t remember anymore. I also had these Technics three way floor speakers sb-cr77. It wasn’t the best obviously but it was still awesome and rocked the house for sure and I loved it. I eventually got into mobile dj’ing for ten years. I learned tips and tricks along the way but didn’t really have a mentor for hifi gear and such. I had a radio shack catalog but that’s about it aside from the techs and sales associates at the local dj and music gear stores. With YouTube and the internet age it’s definitely easier to look up information but it’s still helps to have help and mentorship in this great hobby. It’s a lifelong learning process but I love the vintage hifi community, listening to music, and sharing knowledge and experience if I can help. And am always willing to learn from others as well. Keep up the great videos.

My DIY speakers are 6.5 feet tall - While I dont consider myself 'audiophile' in the sense that I spend a lot of $. I definitely care about sound. Also I enjoy exposing people that normally listen to ear buds or headphones or desktop computer speakers to something big and clear :)

Very well said Mike. Never quite thought of it this way. Being 67 years old and consider myself an audiophile since a teen. Guess I do own some knowledge I didn’t really thought I had. I won’t get into my sound system trust me it’s great. A mix of vintage and new. I’ll do what I can. I do use a Bluetooth speaker in the garage. 😂

I’m in my senior years..I’ve gone from room filling Mega system to a headphone stack and a bunch of flavorful IEM’s.
If your musical tastes don’t run past top 40 or what you hear on your local radio station…your missing so so much.
Has the equipment been important and is improving..yup…but so has the ability to experience and access music from across the planet and virtually every genre.
Choose wisely and you’ll take a step into a larger universe!
Great video 👍

Some people throw their money at sound systems to the enth degree, some at cars or motorbikes, some obsess over stamps others over record albums some spend their money on having the best garden others on enjoying drinking, drugs and partying. I know people who will spend thousands on a matchbox car with a particular coloured wheel hub. In some ways none of it makes any sense at all and in another way its all subjective so just enjoy whatever it is and good luck with it.

Great video and well said! It's like fast food and 3 Michelin stars and everything in between. People need to be more open minded.

One factor is that the small stuff has improved exponentially, more power thanks to class D and better batteries. Still not even close to audiophile stuff but at least you can have fun with Bluetooth speakers as background music. More up there in that type of use, than ever.

Hi Mike
We always need positive outlook especially for audiophiles and gear they buy
Best thing I every bought was the book get better sound by Jim smith
This will make any system sound better and it’s less than $50

Audiophiles are usually snobby, self important, and tend to talk down to music listers that don’t or can’t afford the equipment that audiophiles favor. Bose is loved because they produce products that are affordable, Crosby is liked by people because they are affordable and are colorful for beginners.

People who can support their claims with sound demos are an endangered species.

That was truly excellent Mike. I gave you a thumbs up.
I've even had the negative ones visit and comment on my wee channel, life's too short.

Ehhh I dunno . . . a few fairly prominent audiophile channels recently gushed over the latest Beyonce box set and it kinda confirmed my earlier instincts; there's music heads and there's audiophiles. I'm grateful for the audiophile channels covering/explaining new hifi products, but there's a lot of cornballs out there w cornball taste in music.
