With the new DDR5 we wondered if it mattered if it made a difference if it was in dual or single channel mode with such ridiculous transfer speeds we weren't sure it would. SO we did the DDR5 Dual vs Single channel benchmark, enjoy!

The 1% and .1% numbers are interesting.

Nice test. Try and do one with low graphic settings so you test the CPU and Memory more than the GPU, that is called a CPU bottleneck scenario, which would be more convenient for this kind of memory tests. It would be interesting to see 2x8gb vs 1x16 for one side to see the difference of single vs dual rank on the new DDR5 technology and vs 4x8gb vs 2x16 vs 4x16, for the same reasons plus dual channel. Good one, keep it up!

Yes its important to run in dual channel, however it is $200 per a DIMM at this point and stock is probably only going to get worse so I'll take one for now.

I did expect much higher difference like with New World, but with every game. Huh...
Thanks for the benchmarks!

I know it's an older vid, but damn. The average FPS is pretty much the same, but 1% and 01.% lows are insane, like 50+ fps for 2x sticks.

In ddr5 Maybe we will not gain performance, but we will gain stability.

1 channel high mhz ram (expencive) vs 2 channel low mhz (cheap)?

which one is better single channel ddr5 60000 cl 30 vs dual channel ddr5 60000 cl 40 both total 32 gb. on amd 5 7600

Significantly difference considering the ample vram

Thank you good Sir for the comparisson video! My conclusion is go with the 2 stick variant for better 1%, 0.1% and based on other tests, the speed (frequency) not make any difference whatsoever compared to the money you save by going with a slower one.

Man, better get dual channel then because the 1%/0.1% on single is significantly worse than dual. Might notice stuttering on single especially in Rust…AvG 104fps and lows 7fps…severe stuttering.

ddr5 6kHz single - vs - dual 3kHz ddr4 would be interesting

More like the wait just began.. Where do I find this mysterious unicorn ram?

DDR5 is Dual Channel regardless, I imagine that using one slot is probably slightly less latency than both having to talk to each other. Either that or no difference at all.

Curious how the single-channel was enabled for a DDR5 stick, as each stick is dual channel by themselves. Was this forced somehow from bios?

Dual channel makes a bigger difference at Low settings than Ultra settings. SO maybe try using low and medium settings as well to find the difference.

ram affects CPU performance, so why are you benchmarking it at 4k ultra?? do 1080p low and the differences will be much much greater

In case of DDR5 single stick is running in dual channel, two sticks are running in quad.

It's really hard to hear what you're saying when you pronounce like half of every word, not sure if that's a dialect or a speech impediment lol

Yes, RAM is for games only, as it should be, I need more FPS, one trillion FPS I think would be enough, but wait, no I need more. I'm not sarcastic and not lying, no, no, no.
