Birmingham based initially, with a South African producer Robert John 'Mutt' Lange, and an American rock sound, City Boy are something of an oddity at a time when either super polished Middle of the Road pop or disco hits were saturating the charts worldwide. City Boy released 7 albums in just 6 years, but they are best known for this rock stomper "5.7.0.5" - a Top 10 hit in Britain, a # 11 in Australia where it spent 4 months charting. In America the song reached #27.

City Boy was no more by 1982 and its members have mostly remained in the industry, either forming new bands or continuing to work as session players. '5.7.0.5' was a bit of a novelty at the time, thanks to its unusual title and its catchy rollicking style. It is a perfect musical postcard from the middle of 1978.
