I get it, I'm a business owner... But...This is exactly why we don't eat out anymore. There is simply no value to paying $16 for a BLT.

This is why I refuse to pay those ridiculous prices and eat at home.

That's why we see so many food trucks now. 20 thousand dollars a month for rent is ridiculous!

Now from the customer perspective: no one is going to care that your rent is $20, 000. They see $16 for a BLT they’re not going to come back.

20K in rent is insanity. Absolute insanity.

If your numbers are real, you're already out of business--you just haven't accepted it yet.

As a Chef, every time I go out to eat, I am dissapointed. Get cooking and live longer.

If your rent is $20000 a month, you're doing something wrong.

If overheads are eating up every penny after the food cost, I think I'd just close my business and do something else.

It's astonishing that any restaurants are still in business.

You just pointed out something very important. You're going to have to sell an unrealistic amount of sandwiches at an unrealistic price just to break even. Any reasonable person would hear this and think: "Well this is not a profitable business, we need to shut it down." I hope this helps you see the light. Lower prices or shut it down.

Reason 1300 why you NEVER get in the restaurant business unless you own the building.

That's why I'm a chef. I'll make money for other ppl rather than going through the 80% failure rate of a restaurant owner. It's ridiculous.

An unfortunate reality is that most people, including me, are then forced to stay away from restaurants. It's a death spiral for many businesses.

11 dollars profit on a 16 dollar sandwich and you STILL can't make that work on a 28% labor cost? Sounds like a YOU problem.

Moral of the story, figure out why you're paying 20k in rent every month.

Restaurants may be justified in their prices, but consumers are also justified in refusing to pay them. It may be a sad reality that your industry is unsustainable in this economy, your BLT just isn’t worth $16.

Moral of the story, a restaurant is the worst business decision you can make today.

No sandwich shop is selling 250 per day. The math is wrong all over the place here. The story is good and all, but we are being lied to.

I grew up in the sixties and seventies . My parents had six kids and believe me we NEVER went out to eat. MAYBE once every three or four years. We never even thought about eating out so I never felt deprived.
