The start of the downswing is a topic that gets a lot of attention. Yet there seems to be a lot of confusion about exactly what starts the downswing.

Legs? Knees? Hips? Arms? Torso?

The truth is, like so many things in the golf swing, it depends. But moving your weight towards the target in the early downswing is a trait demonstrated by the best ball strikers in the world.

Specifically, the movement of the lead shoulder and lead knee at the start of the downswing is a movement that can literally make or break your ball striking.

This video will discuss this motion from the top of the backswing into the early downswing, and well as a drill and some FEELS you can apply to help you develop this skill in your own swing.
