What’s even better than lowering the pressure is to have more volume of water. I pressure wash for a living and if we aren’t trying to strip the whole top layer of concrete off we use more volume to move more stuff

For car washing gpm is far more important than psi. Gpm, Gallons per minute, will help rinse/rise and loose dirt/debris. Psi, pounds per square inch, is less important because the damage it could cause as well as affect the water pattern as explained in the video. A good psi is around ~1700 and preferably anything with 1.7-2.0+ gpm. There’s amazing videos on the here that can help you find products/attachments to upgrade your pressure washer to perform its best for car specific needs, just look them up 👍🏽

Also weakens cladding adhesive by using too high p.s.i.

I usually wait for it to start raining then go 100mph+ on the highway works just as good

So true! I also totally agree with another point you make which is: a power washer pre-rinse (water only) can actually SCRATCH your paint! Pre-wash with an APC and/or snow foam will encapsulate the dirt and help safely rinse it off!

High volume is the best way to get the chunks. Pressure is what cleans it.

Just found ar blue clean. Looking for a replacement and this is exactly how it's works for certain things. The 2300 with 2.75 nozzle brings it down to around 1500 3.5 nozzle to about 900 and I'll still have the original nozzles for the full 2300 on my driveway.

I love this guy, he cleans his truck INSIDE his garage ✅

Sometimes I use a snowjoe cordless power washer (300psi) to remove loose contaminants before rinseless wash and it works just fine. It's great that I can actually spray rinseless wash solution instesd of just water so it also replaces a trigger sprayer/handheld foam sprayer for pre-soaking panels

Lol the car wash in my neighborhood one of the hoses has insane pressure I found out the hard way by blowing my whole side trim off along with like a 2 foot spot of paint it was insane.

this is very true. how i think about it is the higher the pressure, youre more so slicing into the dirt but not breaking it. the higher gpm the moee youre submerging the dirt from the inside which will break it up easier

I really hate it when dirt/grime hides under those trim, especially the roof. Nice to know, then best to use the soap dispenser tip to get the lowest pressure

And high pressure peels molding right off. Had older car that had old original pun stripe that had hardened started peeling, high pressure washer removed it eady peasy, then wd40 took any sticky residue right off. So remember high-pressure if it hits paint chip can also blow paint.off once water gets under paint

That's super true and it really makes a big difference I do work on a car wash, and that's a really bad problem

Also high pressure while dirt in large amount, will act as a sandblaster and scratch the paint.

An interesting fact is this applies to the gutters on your house as well. One reason so many gutters get clogged is because the guttering is at too much of a pitch. The water drains so fast it skips over the dirt and leaves instead of pushing it down the drain.

Tip: If you lower the pressure to 8 psi, it gives the water even more time to penetrate deeper into the crevices.
