There's a growing power struggle between the solar industry and utilities. Solar panels have become extremely popular as a way to cut electricity costs.

But now the California Public Utilities Commission is considering a proposal that would change the incentives to customers.

This is exactly why “public utilities” need to be owned by the public. Time for California to take them over, get the profit out and focus on seriously addressing climate impact.

Amazing how those electric companies are so worried about the low income. So you think, even with 50% rebates, that low income individuals are gonna go get a 10k loan for a solar system? Low income dont even own their damn houses, yet they are gonna put solar on their rental? Low income drive older cars that pollute much more than newer cars. Are we gonna charge drivers of Tesla's a tax to help reduce the inequities that those low income people face since they are less likely to drive a Tesla? what a joke this is. Its nothing more than a money grab by all the electric companies in this state that see their profits getting crushed with every home that goes solar.

Well it’s time to cut the cord and go off grid instead off grid tie in . And that’s what will happen if power company’s want to cut rates they pay you for power “ which saves them from build new peaker plants” and add a fee because you were smart and went solar and now they are going for greedy!!!

I knew this would never work you need more efficient solar panels most efficient panels run at 20 percent you need at least 80 percent to break free this is just a act of desperation to save the planet😥

Seems a little silly really. If you have solar on your roof top then your really just need some batteries and your done. Granted the batteries are not cheap but with some effort one could get some batteries and then tell the power company to stuff it. You really don't need them THEY need you.

PG&E pays us 2cents a KWH and sells it to you for 20-25cents KWH. So they're doing ok. We have a Tesla solar system. And poor people don't have $20-60K for solar so this story is 🐂 💩

Everything the current system does for Ca. Is the exact opposite of what they say.

Looks like the power companies are struggling to survive. If this doesn't go thru, are they done? Everyone knows the benefits of solar. Everyone in California gona be homeless soon with prices of everything going up .
