They isolated the specific Gen which code is responsible for the production of the GFP and integrated this Gen into the animals so their body would produce this protein. :)

It's more ethical to test on humans who volunteer, or on criminals, THAN on animals who can't even give consent and who are built way too differently.

I feel like the research being done with the genetic modification is definitely valid and needed, but I do feel concern for the state of the animal's health as well. I don't feel like messing with their DNA can be considered harmless.
