CTC Review #191 - Hostess Totally Nutty vs. Little Debbie Nutty Buddy

I don't know why it took Hostess so long to mimic one of Little Debbie's most popular snacks, but that day has finally come. That's right, Hostess has developed their own Nutty Buddies! Dubbed Totally Nutty, these bars come one to a pack (unlike the dual-packaged Little Debbie version), but are much thicker and wider. The introduction sets us up for one of the most important head-to-head taste tests to date... will Hostess take nutty bar crown from Little Debbie or will the original keep them at bay? This snack will make you gain weight like nothing else and all little debbie snacks for that matter but this Particular one is the DEVIL! I'm very conscious of what I eat and for one week I ate one pack every day for lunch (two bars) because I had a hankering for it then. When I weighed myself the next week (like I do every Monday) and seen that I had gained 8lbs and the only thing I was doing different was eating NUTTY BUDDY BARS I flipped out. I thought I could replace it with my peanut protein bars that I always eat. WRONG!

I LOVE Nutty Buddy, being a PB freak, but I have to confess that my order of the Lil Deb Pantheon is as follows: Oatmeal Creme Pie, Nutty Buddy, Swiss Cake Roll, Fudge Brownie (w/ walnuts) - everything else.

Bobby, dunk the nutty buddy in milk for the full effect. I will also try my dunking technique with the hostess brand for you as a toast to this awesome review.

I love the Nutty Buddies, too, but I recently tried out the Hostess version and I think I like that a bit more.

I have been wracking my brain trying to think of a way to improve the Nutty Buddy. Can you think of anything? It might be interesting if they did a deep chocolate one - all of their variations taste basically the same as the Nutty Buddy, so with the deep chocolate they'd double the thickness of the chocolate coating and use a chocolate wafer instead of the normal.

I would also like to see a vanilla cinnamon PB variation.

One more thought, have you ever had any of the knockoff brands for this? I actually like Mrs. Freshley's version even better than Lil Debs Nutty Buddy!
