I just realized why he was "Pyg", and the"Pig". He's taken his name after the Greek legend of Pygmalion, who was a sculptor so perfect he fell in love with his most beautiful statue, which a goddess made into a real person. The pig thing was just incidental.

Batman has no shortage of deadly enemies, many of whom are incredibly weird or have disturbing obsessions, but this guy is *horrifying.* Even Joker's Ghost admits he's a lunatic.

I remember first playing this, thinking, "This is obviously Hush. Why bother being discreet?" It was a very pleasant surprise being proven wrong and being introduced to a new sadistic villain.

One thing I noticed after playing through the game and looking at the John Doe's, as they're called. If you analyze them in detective mode in the GCPD prison cells, they're constantly terrified. Not calm. Not distressed. Not agitated. Terrified. They're basically living in constant terror as they're standing there. And when you take into account all the mutilation that Valentin did, it kinda of helps settles in how disturbing this shit really is.

These have always been my favorite parts of the “Arkham” games. Setting up crime scenes, scanning tissue, rebuilding events. Really put you into the detective side of Batman.
