I love games that start out with an insultingly simple premise and then just keep piling on complexities and mechanics and lore until it feels like a completely different game. It's like playing Cookie Clicker or Universal Paperclips.

I imagined another ending. There IS treasure, and you find it... Take it up to the surface...

...Only to find an HOA representative there, annoyed with how your giant hole is 'lowering the property value', and they sue you for the entire value of everything you've gotten. Treasure, random ores in the ground, and all.
