Don't forget, this car does not have an ignition. You gotta crank the engine to start.

It doesn't have an anti-theft device, it is an anti-theft device.

Ahh yes, planetary gearboxes. The perfect anti-theft device as long as you don’t tow it.

A manual transmission is a great anti-theft measure… until someone steals your car, takes the transmission and leaves the rest of it at the side of some back road. Happened to a friend of mine in 2007.

My dad bought a Model A from 1930 a while back and I had to figure out how to drive that since he didn't bring me for the purchase and didn't listen too well when it was explained to him XD

The Model a has the same spark advance and throttle levers, but the throttle lever is coupled to a floor pedal, so it's more of an idle throttle lever and the gas pedal operates as you'd expect. It's still in the middle though. Brake right clutch left. The gearbox has three gears plus reverse so the handbrake is only a handbrake. It's not that difficult to drive, but very difficult to start without knowing how!

I learned to drive in a 1930 model A. While it is much more familiar to a modern car, it has all sorts of levels and valves to do crazy things, like adjustable timing on the steering wheel, and the throttle level was retained on the column as well even though it had a “gas” pedal, the column one could act as a crude cruise control. I was made to crank start it the first time and then allowed to use the electric starter from then on out. No heater though

Another good feature with the Model T is not having to worry about catalytic converter theft. You could park it anywhere.

If you're a thief, knowing the controls and what they do is predicated on the notion that you even know how to start that car to begin with. Good luck with that. 😉

I remember learning to drive a farm truck with a split rear end when I was 15. I was bailing hay as a summer job for a farmer and getting that big truck on the road and bringing up to speed was as much work as throwing hay bails around - LOL. My grandparents never had indoor plumbing or toilet on their farm. We had to draw water from the outside pump and use the outhouse. That gets ripe in the summers and very cold in the winter. Our luxury was using a flashlight to go to the toilet at night instead if a kerosine hurricane lamp. I was told it builds character - it worked - I am a Character now !! Kids today have no clue how easy life is right now.

Manual drivers drooling when they're given control of every single component in the car

Main thing that scares me is manually adjusting the spark advance, im sure I could get used to it but having never had to do that, it scares me XD

This is just how to operate the automobile, imagine the maintenance it needed to keep running well. Owning and driving a automobile back then wasn't an easy thing
