Myles O'Reilly :: The Most Colourful Thread In The Loom

Taken from the forthcoming album 'Cocooning Heart' by Myles O'Reilly to be released June 30th.

This is the first song in an album I have created, inspired by and dedicated to my beautiful wife Aideen. The Most Colourful Thread In The Loom, is an ode to the life we have woven together, and are yet to weave. The unpredictable nature of love and commitment, as an ever changing and evolving pattern. 17 years together, we've experienced extreme highs and our share of lows but throughout it all, the fabric of the world we keep around us; our family, friends, neighbors, our house, our two adorable cats, the routines we keep, the hobbies we chose... have kept us close, warm and safe. Above all, our ability to make each other laugh, has never waivered. In this video, I think I've squeezed it all in there. The most personal and exposing video I'll ever create but an important starting point. The womb, the hearth, the crib where this need to sing enterred the world.

As others have said - what a hauntingly beautiful piece of music. My first attraction, tho, was the title. My wife is a weaver, me a spinner - a bit of a role reversal but if you saw our house, the looms (5 in all) and the wheels (2), and the wall hangings ... one I've dubbed The Declaration of Arbraoth - it is my favorite of her many creations. But with this music to frame the throwing of the shuttle, and the pounding of the beater ... oh, my .... is féidir liom amháin a rá - go raibh míle maith agaibh agus beannachtaí daoibh go léir.
