How do you transfer negative charge through static electricity

How are you?
I would like to ask you maybe It is naive question:
if static electricity affects devices such as an amplifier or CD player. when I usually get up from the couch and touch the volume button, I feel slight electric shocks. it could be a carpet or a blanket from the couch.
Can static electricity damage Gatoaudio amplifier or others devices Please?
