For those here who are not flute players. The difficulty of this concerto on a scale from 1 to 10 is at least 100 and Pahud is outperforming himself.

What an absolute masterpiece. Can't believe I've only just discovered this now. Thank you Khachaturian and thank you Pahud

Pahud’s deep staccato skills are unparalleled. As a flute student, I aspire to produce resonant low tones like Pahud. I find myself learning more about musicality from watching this video. I'm currently working on the same piece, and it has been incredibly helpful!

Je connais Mr Pahud depuis ses débuts artistiques, un immense talent, une puissance à la flûte inégalée .
De plus c'est un homme charmant et simple .

I fell in love with a flutist, a beautiful woman, during a 2 week apprenticeship in France. She was playing the 3rd movement of this concerto. I couldn't tell her (because I'm not brave...), but listening to this concerto remembers me of her. I can still imagine her playing those beautiful notes.

Back here in 2023 listening again. Truly a master flutist. I still can't believe that Emmanuel is the first worldwide musician I saw after moving to Boston 23yrs ago. He's still killing it.

I've never been more amazed and astounded by a performance on flute. Truly breathtaking. The way he spits out the low notes at 37:11 is just one example of his absolute virtuosity.

This is one of my favorite violin concertos. I've listened to bits of it on flute before and sorely missed the power, finesse, and timbre of the violin. I missed the tearing, savage sounds and the intensely quiet, fade-to-nothing tones.
This time, though... Pahud. This is a rip-out-your-soul performance. I could immerse myself in this forever.

Pahud har ført fløytespill på det aller høyeste nivå.Det er bare ta hatten av, musikalsk teknisk er han SUPREM i dagens musikkverden.

Pahud surpasses himself with this one being the best interpretation I've ever heard!🌷

Pahud is, of course, superb. But my goodness, that is some orchestra playing. Just an astonishingly great orchestra, from the tight ensemble playing of the strings to the great winds. Amazing orchestra.

Ok, my jaw reached the bottom of a basement. That technique, that rich tone, that musicality, those effortlessly flying quick runs. I'm speechless. I even think his interpretation of second movement in particular suits flute better than violin. He practically made this piece his own. Bravissimo!

Great job there! I really enjoyed working on this in the 70s when Rampal came out with the first recording of this for flute. Last movement was my favorite but MAN is this piece exhausting. And it's very hard to play perfectly! If you like double tonguing then this piece is for you!

I heard this on violin before and I wondered how would it sound on flute and it’s absolutely beautiful 🤩
