Russia reveals special upgrades to its MiG-35 fighter jet

After announcing the project of modernizing the Su-30SM multirole fighter jet into the Su-30SM2 and the Su-35S into the Su-35SM, Russia will now upgrade its MiG-35 fighter jet.

To note, the MiG-35 Fulcrum-F is the most complete upgrade based on the MiG-29 Fulcrum design that was born in the Soviet Union era.

Representatives of Mikoyan-Gurevich revealed that the upgraded version of the MiG-35 will receive a new cockpit and radar with active phased array antenna.

In addition, the shape of the fuselage will also change.

Main Director of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Yuri Slyusar stated, after completing the modernization, Russia will bring the MiG-35M to India and several other countries for exhibition.

Russia hopes that the MiG-35 can continue the tradition and glorious history of earlier fighter jets designed by the Mikoyan Gurevich Bureau, such as the MiG-21 or MiG-25.

The company said that the advantage of the MiG-35 compared to the MiG-29 is that it is integrated with much more sophisticated avionics, a stronger and longer-lived frame structure, and is equipped with a 3-D thrust vector control engine which makes it maneuverable agile.

Unlike the MiG-29 which only has a limited ground-to-ground function , the MiG-35 is a true multirole fighter.

The aircraft can use precision-guided weapons to attack and destroy land and sea targets, in addition to engaging enemy jets.

So far the Russian Air Force has only received 12 MiG-35s.
