Was hoping Nige would have a rant on the HIA incident in the France U20 - England U20 match! What a shambles that was!

Question 1: The Law requires that a tackled player must release the ball. He may do so by reaching out and placing the ball on the ground. In 99% of professional rugby games, the tackled player keeps one hand on the ball or in some cases he will hold the ball in both hands in order to be able to pop it up to the 9. Are both these situations in breach of the Law on releasing
Question 2: Players joining the ruck must bind on another player before performing any other action such as driving or clearing out. In the modern game, players can be seen to charge into a ruck with the sole intention of dislodging an opposition player without any attempt at binding. Body-charging essentially. As these situations are highly dangerous and against the Laws why are they not being punished?

Deliberate knock on is a tough rule. The difference between a brilliant interception and knocking the ball on - in the process getting a yellow card and possible penalty try against you - is a matter of a couple centimetres.

Nigel was surprised at the lack of card against Basham. Was he also surprised at the lack of any review of the head high tackle that injured and Italian? The defender always looked high and even if not intended appeared reckless and dangerous leading wit the head, which numerous red cards have been shown for in recent times.

Two part comment. 1) Can we please take a moment to praise Aurélie Groizeleau and how she stood her ground during a head injury assessment confrontation with the English medical squad who wanted their player to continue on. 2) What exactly does a player and assessment team do when a player is taken off the pitch during an HIA to validate that the player is capable to return to the pitch? Are their questions? balance tests? etc.?

England doctor vs. French ref, please. That level of disrespect needs to be recognised and dealt with.

Only thing I'd disagree with here is the knock on. There is technically no knock-on offense until the ball hits the ground or player in front of the knocking on player. The welsh player is entitled to tackle Finn as attempting to gain possession is in possession according to WR. So there has been no offence at that point. I'd be inclinded to give a player benefit of the doubt in those circumstance unless the ball was knocked down with the hand.

Was disappointed you didn't discuss the forward pass to Dupont for France's first try. Always think the linesmen need to be more vigilant on that one.

He made an obvious attempt to get the ball with one hand. He tried to roll it back with his fingers. Oh.. It was against Wales. What's the point in even asking him?
