Personally I think he knew the only way out of the club was death. He could've just whent with it nobody in his chapter would've rated him out. Yet he chose death anyway, and instead of letting his brothers have his death on their conscious he chose the same path as his old man.same bike same road and an 18 wheeler.

Gemma didn’t have to kill Tara, she could have asked her questions. I think she was jealous of her and it wouldn’t have mattered to Gemma what Tara had to say.

He could have thought outside the box and tested Gemma's "information" by first questioning the Chinese guy he tortured as to his whereabouts on the night Tara was killed before harming even a hair. When the guy would have reported he was in Las Vegas at the time, he would have found and pressed Juice (no pun intended) for the ACTUAL truth. Hell, maybe even press Gemma herself given she was so "sure" about the guy.

This would have saved countless deaths and maintained his relationship with August, Lin,
