Oh, this sounds _gothic_ gothic. Thank you for not discussing the not-spoiler spoilers; you made me antsy to read this 💚💜🖤

This was my favorite book of the year. It's too soon to tell but at this time, it's a contender for my favorite book ever. The tenderness of this love story is unmatched. Johanna did something incredibly special here. The intimacy was written in a way that would take my breath away and make my heart just ache. It's only been a month or two but I'm ready for a re-read.

I didn’t end up loving this one the same way you did, but I DID really like it. I thought the writing was lush and so beautiful, and the gothic plot was amazing, I just didn’t find myself connecting to the characters as much as I wanted to, and I’m def a character lover when it comes to books hitting me emotionally. I liked it a lot though! And will 100% be reading more from this author in the future.

Another book to add to my TBR. I seem to add so many after watching your videos. LOL. I also want to say I had the chance to read your book this month. Beautifully written, especially Managing.

This book sounds terrific. The device of having the interviews for her trial made me think a little bit of the wonderful "The Confessions of Frannie Langton" by Sara Collins (which is a book you also brought to my attention).

The Shirley Jackson shirt was an excellent choice for this review. 10/10 review

Just so you know (and unfortunately the narrator made the same mistake), Roos means rose and the pronunciation is actually more closely to rose/rows than how English speakers would pronounce "roos". The narrator is absolutely fantastic, but because Roos and Ruth were pronounced so similarly it really confused me at times 😅 I talked about this with the author during a book event and she also said she didn't expect the pronunciation going that way lol

Thanks for the video. I'm going to see if my online free library app, Libby, has a copy.

Ok, I put a hold on this at the library. If you feel your ears burning in a few weeks to a month, that's just me cursing you as I cry when I finally get to read it ;)

Have you tried Adam Silvera's "They Both Die At The End"? It's the first book in a trilogy and gay AF (m/m romance, book 3 hasn't been released yet) and will promise to rip out your heart and stomp all over it. Still one of my favourite books of all time.

Off topic but do you sell your book anywhere but Amazon?

I'm trying not to support Amazon anymore due I really want to read it.

Just finished reading this and I miss that book, world and characters terribly. I've been trying to find other books with a similar vibe and themes. Any suggestions?

Just as a note: Roos is said as and means Rose in Dutch. The double "o" sounds like "oh". I haven't seen this comment yet, I apologize if someone has already said this.
