Everyone in the pod competition shat themselves when they saw this video before design weekend

The planning of the high speed rail network between Belgium and the Netherlands started in 1973. Till this day that infrastructure project has faults, delays, massive cost overruns and is missing an entire second intended train operator due to fraud. And this with 1820's technology....

I can't even begin to imagine all the delays and mistakes something like the Hyperloop will bring along with it if it ever leaves the drawing board. Maybe somewhere in 2275 will someone be riding this thing if we are lucky.

Very nice, I really like how it is connected to the ground. It appears to be very adaptable/salable to larger models. I don't know of you have that in your design, but it would likely be a good idea to make the base frame simply that, a base to build multiple different vehicle.

Not much of a engineering background, but great job! Best design for the competition I have seen so far.

Great video and love how you guys show your model, unlike the MIT Hyperloop video.

Those bastards stole my idea! Anyway, good job boys, I feel proud everytime I pass those TU buildings. :P

Wow! So amazing!! The design is so futuristic!

What's your expected pod cross-sectional area to tube cross-sectional area ratio?

If engineers can design and build a Hadron Collider they can build a train like this.

Cool! If you filled the tube with low pressure helium would that help, and could this system use hemp in it's construction like Ford had planned to use hemp in building cars in the 1940's?

Now _that's_ what you'd expect to see in the 2020's.

so, this is obviously propelled by mag, no fan. so doesn't he fan also help alleviate the air pressure buildup around the craft? i know that there is less air/pressure inside the tube, however, assuming there still is some, wouldn't a fan solve bother problems? and get max performance?
and where would the propulsion power come from? the pod, or the rail?
if it can come from a battery powered pod, that reduces the infrastructure cost by many orders of magnitude, at least the cost associated with propulsion.
will be interesting to see how this evolves. what works, and what does not.

what if any hole or problem in tubes there will be a shock wave that can be devastating and tube elongation caused by temperature difference is also an issue a great force will be acted by atmosphere on tubes as inside the tube there is very less pressure a lot of things are there to make it a reality

if there is no drag in the tube. why does the pod have to be aerodynamic?

Exactly in the hyperloop’s proposed 1 mbar environment is the enormous
costs implied in creating space capsules for everyday usage in 30 s intervals
granting safety. Energy costs only play a minor role here. The potential
capsule depressurization is the elephant in the room. You do not die because
the lack of air, you die, because your blood starts to boil within 10-20
seconds, and these are not long enough to repressurize the tube without
damaging it. Hyperloop stops here, and one find maybe out to realize Swissmetro
at lower costs, but it still remains a "Concorde" phenomenon.

Think of about 10 metric tons lasting on every square metre of the
tube's outside, and the pod's inside, to illustrate the forces acting at 160
Pa. And there is an enormous energy stored in the tube, which can effectuate potentially
catastrophic.

Very nice. No fan compressor at the front?

I don't think this is the final design am i right?.

So actually this is sort of Maglev in a tube?

Hyperloop pods in similar
environment like aircraft?

Between about 170 hPa
in 13 km above ground for an airliner and the proposed 160 Pa, corresponding to
about 50 km above ground, is a factor of about 100 in air pressure, . This is
the reason for the extreme costs involved to put a living being into such
adverse conditions, if you want to run safely, see Gemini, Apollo, Sojus. And
the pods will not be used once like an Apollo capsule, they should withstand a
rough daily use at supposed 30 s intervals, at allegedly much lesser
maintenance costs  than a normal train...?!
Swissmetro was the best proposal yet, but even for the rich Switzerland too
expensive, and none of the potential investors really projected anything but losses,
see Concorde.
