I came across your Letterboxd list and was upset when I didn’t see any written reviews so I wasn’t able to understand why you hated Mr Peabody and Sherman so much. Then I grew eyeballs and saw your YT channel linked and just finished this video. Wow, this was brilliant. I’m glad I watched it as it was great hearing your opinions even if I disagreed with them (sorry, I really like Peabody and Sherman). At least we can agree that The Last Wish is not only the best of Dreamworks but one of the BEST MOVIES OUT THERE!!! In fact, it’s my favourite film of all time

Either way, I hope this video eventually blows up. Until then, I’m glad to have watched it. Us smaller creators have to stick together after all 👍

I love Dreamworks animated films. Some of my friends and family say that Dreamworks is outdoing Disney. I can't wait to see the upcoming Dreamworks films like The Bad Guys 2. My top five Dreamworks films are Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Over the Hedge, Kung Fu Panda, The Bad Guys, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

I know I’ve already left a comment but I’m gonna leave another one to actually give my personal ranking. Keep in mind that I haven’t seen every Dreamworks movie (I’d say that the most notable exception is Road to El Dorado but the others I’m ok with leaving). BTW if some of the ratings seem a little high, it’s because I take into account my ironic enjoyment. Therefore a movie like Bee Movie gets a high rating purely because I have a blast with it because of how bad it is. It isn’t genuine though

Thought Antz had pretty different aesthetics and themes than A Bug's Life, both about loners/kind of eccentrics but the specific characteristics and story arc were really different.

I like Shark Tale (mostly from liking Will Smith, then lol, and Jack Black in general, also liking De Niro, Scorsese, Jolie kind of making fun of themselves) but I read it was initially intended or made to be quite a bit darker/edgier, called Sharkslayer and with a lot more of and focused on the gangster influences, it as well as Spirit were pretty toned down from where they started out trying to be.

Flushed Away was actually originally going to be claymated, but they decided to make it CGI instead because it would have been hard to do water effects in claymation and it could ruin the clay.

Antz is I think at least ambitious, especially Z and how flawed and sarcastic/self-pitying and yet I think also winning he was, Bala also flawed and yet also improving and their relationship working pretty well, the general anti-militarism, the daringness of spoofing something like Starship Troopers and the bad guy ultimately trying to be mass murdering in PG.

Really don't get complaining about a comedy movie making contemporary pop culture references/spoofing, let alone song use, no reason why that would suddenly not be funny later even decades later (especially when spoofing something like The Matrix which was so big and praised it is also still remembered and hard to see when it later won't be).

Dreamworks is my personal favourite animation studio, and while I like a lot of Pixar’s films, I have a lot more personal preferences for the former. It’s also worth noting that these two companies don’t form a duopoly of offering the same service from different competitors. Disney/Pixar is known for their individual “secret world” movies that stand alone, usually have a song or two and a classic fairy tale story and direction. Dreamworks is known for their subversions of Disney, somewhat crood (pun very much intended) and off color humour and films with great sequels that form excellent franchises (Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and How to Train your Dragon are great ones and Madagascar is perfectly decent)

Say What You Want, but Turbo is (Unironically) my favorite Dreamworks Movie out of pure nostalgia. It was also the first movie I saw in a drive in theater and I remember everything!!

Tbf Dragons Race To The Edge is actually a very good TV show, and it has easily the best villain in the Dragons franchise
