This complex, sometimes dark short film by Johan Oettinger and Peter Tukei Muhumuza skilfully combines animation and feature film techniques. The two directors were brought together as part of the Copenhagen documentary festival's Dox:Lab project. Walk with Me was shot in Uganda and completed in Denmark. A young girl in Uganda dreams of being a ballerina, which is remarkable and almost infeasible in rural Africa.

Johan Oettinger (1984, Denmark) is a filmmaker with a specialisation in stop-motion puppet animation. His professional debute Seven Minutes in the Warsaw Ghetto (2012) was screened and received awards at more than 120 film festivals. Oettinger works for the Danish Film Institute and the Art Council and makes music videos for Copenhagen Records and films for Lego. In partnership with Peter Tukei Muhumuza, he created Walk with Me. In 2014, the film has received a nomination for a Tiger Award for Short Films in IFFR.

Peter Tukei Muhumuza (1985, Uganda) is a multimedia artist. He works as a photographer, painter and filmmaker of primarily stop-motion animations. Tukei Muhumuza has worked with Dutch multimedia artist Arno Nollen and attended the Maisha Film Lab in 2009. In partnership with Johan Oettinger he made Walk with Me. The film is nominated for a Tiger Award for Short Films in IFFR 2014.

Walk With Me is part of IFFR presents, a weekly series of short films on YouTube.
