Very old, I know, but it's pronounced like "Burn" Berne is a town in NE Indiana, that was named after Berne, Switzerland. Berne Workwear was started in Berne, Indiana. They made bib overalls and chore coats for the local farmers, and they were all hand-sewn by Amish ladies. The current HQ for Berne is about 20 miles away in Ossian, IN. There are no more raw denim manufacturers left in the US, and there aren't enough Amish women left in Berne to still hand sew them, that's why there are no more denim garments made in the US, save for Roundhouse, and only some of their product is made here. Workwear companies need the textile industry to exist first in order to make garments, and that has all been overseas going on 20+ years now.

Every time I see a pair of bib overalls I think of my granddad he wore them everyday. Only time he wasn't wearing them was on Sundays when he went to church.

Duluth trading the firehose overalls are the best I ever wore. Very strong material and superb fit. I wear everyday from the time it gets a little chilly in Chicago till summer. I have a few overall from round house material is very thin. I wear 46 pants in Duluth I wear 48 but in round house has to be 52 otherwise if You bend over you will damage your jewels

I got some at wallyworld. They fit OK, but they wear out really fast. I still have a set that I need to fix. I like them, but they are a bit cumbersome to get off and on during a "bathroom emergency." I need to get my sewing machine out and get my mending work done :-)

I m going to check out the Berne overalls, I find overalls are great clotheing for us larger guys, pants never fall down and lots of good pockets for knives and stuff. My old Carhartt side button things are to tight to do up now, I hate it when things shrink a few years after you buy them. A design flaw 8-)) I always try to buy a couple sizes larger to, you can always layer shirts then in the winter, and have room to expand in BBQ season. Odin the orange bastard tabby cat is pleased 8-)) Thanks

How did you like the Carhartt bib overalls compared to these ? Carhartt is the brand we see the most here. Plumbers and pipefitters like me seemed to wear black and carpenters brown. Kind of a trade thing. You were better to soak them in a tub of hot soapy water and hang them up to dry. The washer and dryer destroyed them quickly we all found.
