Each of our numbered days could be spent making and sharing the passions in our hearts.
Instead most of us spend our days dreading the next compelled against our will to serve a king we'll never see.
In our fleeting time outside that soul-crushing loop, we sit and scroll waiting for things to get better.
You may believe the key to that lock was lost long ago, but I believe it's in the shape of a story told to others.
Just like our greatest ancestors, we can't survive without a tribe, without a family.
So if you've ever wanted to break free, right now is the time to start making and start sharing.
The biggest lie I ever told myself is that nobody cares what I make or what I have to say.
I refuse to let you tell yourself that lie.

That point at the end is true, I'm a watercolour artist and have sold 1000s more painting courses than actual paintings

Hi Stephen, loved this discussion. Just want to give some counterpoints:

1) Isn't the decentralisation a bit too good to be true? Isn't this another winner takes all phenomenon? I.e. in other forms of content creation 90% of creators don't make any money. Do consumers really want a unique niche solution to their problem or do they want a general solution which at scale is also very cheap?

E.g. (I think) the reason small businesses used to exist was because geographically it was very hard for one business to reach into other markets; goods and information travelled slowly. So, on the supply side, this isn't changing in the information age - the trend actually continues.

2) Working for a company allows long-term collaboration which is actually very powerful over time. Good products take years to create - I mean real products that people use rather than merely educational material. Can you build something big without working in teams with long-term investment? Can you create these same products with sovereign individuals?

This is powerful.

I love how thorough and organized you are making these. We can tell a lot of time and attention went into researching and scripting to make these topics interrelated and digestible. The evolution of this channel is incredible to witness! You're going to help a whole new level of people.

Great video, i'm more convinced than ever about this and I will start with my own journey soon.

I really appreciate what you share with the world, it has served me a lot to understand these concepts, and also, by your example I saw content highly aligned with the ideal of what I want to share with the world. Thank you for clarifying the road ahead, I will apply your advice.

Hi Stephen, this video is gold! Rewatching a second time on 2x speed. I like how you went into how to establish niche communities by combining 'unrelated' topics and also targeting a specific problem/audience vs a wider audience. I think being able to build a 'creator' businesses like ours is a really unique opportunity. I'm in my 30s and only started a couple years ago, so playing catch up and learning as much as I can. My biggest challenge right now is getting more engagement and ultimately, sales of my digital products. Looking forward to more on this series.

And some things…
You named two main/ major revolutions but there were much more, of different kinds.
2) it would be really interesting if the big business to small business ratio. Is actually statistically proven to change or wether it’s your perception. It’s surely true that the media sector went from few to many sources, but that’s one business Sektor of many. Ie others (food production?) could be going the opposite way with centralization increasing.
But Yes great topic pick. currently I trying to get a YouTube channel started to share my knowledge. 🎉

Unfortunately the market is so saturated right now with people trying to sell their knowledge that it’s extremely difficult to build an audience that wants to learn from you

Thanks Stephen. I'm choosing the way of the artist lol. Create first. Monetize later. Also agree that catering to the lowest common denominator isn't my thing either.
