I absolutely LOVE that Gran Torino wagon. What a cool car. Station wagons are so cool. They used to not be.

For those of us who graduated from high school in the early to mid 80's, some of these were our high school cars. My family had the Gran Torino wagon and my buddy had the pinto.

My folks had a 1973 Country Squire with a 400 2 barrel, it was quite the highway car and not half bad on fuel for such a big vehicle. We also had a 1975 F-100 longbed stepside that my dad used as a work truck, it ended up rusting to death unfortunately...

I bought a '72 Pinto Runabout brand new. It was a fantastic car. Dependable, economical, fun to drive, rode and handled great for such a small car. I sold it and bought a new "76 Torino once I got out of college and was working full time. Biggest mistake I ever made. The Torino was junk, nothing but problems with it, even the Firestone tires were junk. I was never as happy as the day I sold that Torino in 1980. My next car was a 1980 Pinto wagon with 16, 000 miles on it. It was another GREAT car for all the same reasons as the Runabout.
