Breaking: Emirates to TAKE OVER Etihad!

Dubai’s flagship airline Emirates is looking at taking over unprofitable neighbour Etihad, according to four people familiar with the matter, in a move that would create the world’s biggest carrier by passenger traffic. The talks, which are at a preliminary stage, would see Emirates acquire the main airline business of Abu Dhabi’s Etihad, which would keep its maintenance arm, according to the people, who asked not to be named because the matter is confidential. The negotiations could yet fall through, they said.

I keep thinking about Kuwait and Turkish. Both airlines/countries are investing billions and billions into new mega-airports and planes, both with growth plans somewhat based on the long haul hub model ( though Turkey’s geography is also suited for increased short and medium haul). There simply isn’t enough market for them, let alone Emirates, Etihad and Qatar.

Unless the United Arab Emirates Government and the Share holders of Both Airlines had legal court rulings and Business Consumer Watchdogs Approval even the IATA and ICAO must Also approved the merger between the 2 Carriers.

thanks for video. I was planning to use Etihad early next year to go to Seychelles and picked Etihad as they use an Airbus 380 then an A321 for ours change at Dohap. (It will be for 3 of us ) assuming I am alive, as I am 77 now.
