Thanks! We were talking about exactly this - the brown rice in the combi question, and yours is the only video! Thanks for sticking with it.

I'm really glad that I stumbled on this video. My wife and I just got the Combi Cooker and I am seeing there is a bit of a learning curve with this machine. Right off the bat, I noticed that the suggested combi meals, that included rice, used quick cook rice. I don't use boxed rice because it lacks the nutritional value of long grain. Tonight I wanted to do a combi salmon meal including brown rice and frozen cauliflower. I realized that the brown rice was not going to cook in the amount of time the salmon would take. I watched this video and it helped me figure out how to do it. I added 1 cup of brown rice and 3 cups of water with various seasonings and I steamed that for 15 minutes based on what time you gave for 2 cups of fully cooked. I didn't want it to cook all the way before I placed the salmon on the tray #1 and the frozen vegetables I mixed with the partially cooked rice in tray #2. I then placed it on combi meal @ 375 for 15 minutes. I ended up pulling it at 14 minutes. Everything was perfect and the rice fully cooked. Thank you for this video, I'm not sure how long it would have taken me to figure it out!

I just bought one. I know when I cook brown rice in my insta pot it calls for less water. I will try that and let you know how it goes.

I just tried the rice setting. Nothing! Nada! It was barely warm when i opened the door. Super disappointed in that. That's why i came here. Im glad you show the flops and the better way to cook it. Somi have it back in on the steam setting. Im doing white 6 im making broccoli rice casserole.

First process is to let the steaming start and if the counter starts then the cooking starts so 5min is not enough for rice.

I can tell you use your Ninja Combi a lot. Is the Ninja Combi the item you use to do most of your cooking with now? The user's manual, says to do a deep clean once a month by steaming 3 cups of water and then doing a wipe-down afterward. I find that it's still hard to wipe out all of the crud after doing the monthly deep clean. I find that it is easier to do a deep clean once a week. Much easier to wipe out the crud.

Alright, just in case anyone comes here like me when the rice setting fails. You need to do it twice. I think the first time it just doesn't get hot enough but that second time it finally reaches the right temp. Don't know why that is but that's what worked for me

Easier to make on the stove for white rice.

Please, please don’t tell me the problem was the difference between dehydrated cooked rice…. (minute rice) and conventional regular rice.. 😪

Too much water. When using a rice cooker you use less water. Try 2 cups rice to 3 cups water. Should be 1.5 cups water for every cup or rice.
