THE BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES

On February 25, 1942, at about 2:30 in the morning, the people of Los Angeles were jolted awake by the sound of air-raid sirens.

The city was ordered to blackout and prepare for an attack.

Searchlights sprang to life, frantically scanning the sky above the city for enemy aircraft. Finally, the lights converged on a single object.

As frightened citizens stepped on to their porches and lawns to get a glimpse of the target, the sky erupted with hundreds of explosions of fire, smoke and steel.

The Battle of Los Angeles had begun.

My father lived in Hollywood at the time of this incident. He was 13 years old at the time and was an active "Block Warden" for the American Civil Defense. I still have his log book, CD armband and his appointment as the "Block Warden". He remembered that night well as he was walking the sidewalk of his street when he heard the sirens go off. He remembered returning home as instructed and shut down visible lights (blackout curtains). He remembered the sirens would start and stop and it went on for hours. At one point he started hearing explosions and he decided to look out his front window. He remembered the sounds of aircraft overhead but did not see them. The next morning, at first light, he went outside to do his CD duty to make sure his block was ok. He found several pieces of very light metal in the middle of the street and he took them home. He was convinced they were from a Japanese Zero but he never found anyone willing to confirm it. About ten years ago, my brother and I decided to take those pieces to be inspected by a local historian. After several months, he was able to confirm the pieces were from Japanese aircraft, but not necessarily Zero's. He asked if he could keep the pieces and my brother and I ended up giving him the piece that had a rivet seam. As for the UFO claims, my father said he never saw any UFO, nor did anyone talk about seeing one in his block.

I love history, and I read a lot, but I didn’t realize the Battle of Los Angeles was a real event. I thought it was just a movie. This is was absolutely fascinating!

The amount of research and how content is presented on this channel beats mainstream tv shows of the same genre. You deserve a billion subs!

This has always been one of my favorite UFO stories. You provided more information in this video than I’ve read in other articles. But that’s how you always do it, AJ. You put a lot of time and effort to do your research and production. That’s why I enjoy this channel so much. Thanks again for another great video.

As a kid I saw a shinny wide cone hovering in the sky of my birthplace, Johnson City. I even took out a telescope and looked at it. Although local radio and TV called it a weather balloon it was no weather balloon. It did hover noiselessly, but if you look at the alien ships from the 1970 show UFO, and take away everything except a smooth, shiny, silver exterior, that’s it. A bit like an Apollo capsule, but silver all over, including the bottom. It was one of the strangest things this old Marine ever saw.

I'm glad to see you're beating the algorithm AJ. Looks like the shorts worked! Congrats, from under 10k to nearly 150k in weeks. Well deserved. Good video also, TY. What's next W.E.F. conspiracy theories? no longer theory. ;-P

My father was drafted in the spring of 1942. He traveled through California on his way to Hawaii. He said when he arrived their he saw old men with shotguns and boys with ball bats walking up and down the beach. He asked his Sargent what they were doing and he said "Son, that is Americas last line of defence!" Dad said at that moment he realized just how bad the situation was and how bad the attack had hurt us. I can see why people their were so jumpy.

New subscriber here who rarely comments on anything. Just wanted to say the quality of your videos is top notch, they could easily be on tv. The production, research, and delivery are all fantastic. It is so refreshing to see you find success with such content that isn’t trash or divisive on YouTube. Thank you for the great work.

I used to live in the san gabriel valley, and my bedroom window faced the san bernardino mountains. I regulary saw 3 small lights hovering over the mountains, theyd float around gently and move in a circle, then theyd come together and shoot straight up and disappear. Many of my friends saw it too, and it regularly happened several times a month. We tried to get video of it, but this was late 90s, early 00s, and none of us had a good enough camera to capture it.

I’ve only recently found this channel, but I’ve already almost watched all of your videos. There’s an excess of clickbait and poorly regurgitated stories on the internet. It’s so nice to see a thoughtful, researched take. I love how you go over the details of the story thoroughly. Then try to really get to the truth of it at the end. Brilliant stuff mate, love Hecklefish as well!🐟

Thank you for compiling the non stop play lists. I fall asleep listening to it and woke up today jamming the files. Totally the topics I find on my journeys. It's almost like you read my mind brother. You rock AJ!

I would love to see an episode about the UFO sighting over Chicago's O'Hare Airport.

Imagine how scary it must've been to be just shooting blindly into the sky, not even knowing exactly what you were trying to shoot

Now we let a balloon with military equipment just mosey across our country for weeks till citizens throw a fit. Quite the difference from a couple few decades ago.

I have spent 30 years studying military history and this is the best investigation I've seen on the subject of the LA events during WW11
