You are so right I believe in prepping having extra supplies on hand. Whatever anybody wants to call it it’s called survival

I live in the desert, we get flash flooding that can keep one at their home for up to a week or longer. It's wise to have a few weeks of extra supplies in the pantry. Look at the freak snow storm in Texas a year or two back. It would have been crazy to go out during that time. Having some extra supplies on hand was valuable. Did not have to gamble on getting to the store and back safely.
Having extra is not hoarding, it is COMMON SENSE.
More people should do it: batteries, candles, can goods, water, meds, pet food and pet meds if needed.
Just makes sense.

We live on a fairly strict budget. But after that lockdown stuff even tho I was considered a essential employee, I went from a passive prepper to a list, graphs, and detailed monthly buys. I only spend anywhere from $50 to $125 extra a month. One month I spent on $ 27.
That's not hoarding or panic buying. But I'm at 6 months to be able to feed my family and pets and healthy

Our food storage saved us while I was off work during my husbands medical crisis. So happy I had my preps !

Prepper already have what they need, it’s people who haven’t prepped who go crazy when a disaster hits.

I’ve been prepping for almost 20 years and when the pandemic hit, I had everything because you guys taught me what to prep.😊

Living on a farm where a grocery store is 75 miles away, and I hate to grocery shop, prepping is essential since I shop 3 times a year.

Hoarding is an illness for which you need help. Prepping is having extras and a plan for those extras. A working pantry keeps you from hoarding.

I have been prepping for a year. I am not just buying for my family but a community of 30 somethings who I have known for many years. I was at Walmart and had a huge cart full of can goods and stuff. A lady came up to me and told me. “You are the reason shelves will be empty.” I told her. This cart of food is going to have to feed 15-20 people when the shelves are empty. She rolled her eyes and walked off. No doubt I felt all eyes on me walking through the store and at check out.

I am disabled and prefer not leaving home. I love having six months of toothpaste shampoo and likes

You're 100% correct. I feel bad when people hoard and other shoppers don't stand a chance.😳

Every time you go shopping, buy a little extra, in a year's time, your cabinets and broom closet will be full and your closets will soon find a new purpose besides holding clothes.

I get 17" to 24" snows that keep me blocked in. I prep.

Approximately 3 weeks ago my Sister told me to stop hoarding. I told him I'm not. *I'm smart shopping" during the summer months I advised several people alone with certain relatives to start stocking home with certain things. And I don't think anyone did it. This is something I'm doing for years and I recycle and label products. I even provided folks a list. Everybody got the exact same thing to help get them started but no one took heed. I had to pray about it because of how it make me feel. Don't worry about what people say or think. The message is not for everyone to receive. ☺️
UPDATE: Friday, 12.6.2024, my father passed. While going through his stuff, I was reminded he was a stocker as well And I'd completely forgotten about that. He's been doing this for years. But he did not have extra bottles of water.

With the snow that hit lower alabama our county and 4 surrounding counties closed down all roads and bridges. So no running into town for xyz. We live on a clay dirt road as well. Definitely low man on the totem pole for clearing the road.

We keep canned goods, etc on hand as we are liable to have tornados or hurricanes since we're above the panhandle of florida. So yesterday i popped open a few cans of pork n beans from our shelves, a bottle of bbq sauce and thawed some hotdogs, chopped them up and hey presto beanie weenies. Lol

You can be a prepper AND a hoarder... the two aren't mutually exclusive. 😂

Most oarts of America experience some form if natural disaster; be it earthquakes, flooding, huricanes, tornadoes, etc, and as a result we ahould all have extra supplies on hand in case if auch events.
