Oh wow 😢😢😇 Literally minutes before you posted this I was basically crying over Ravel, in my case from practicing the fugue from his Tombeau.

It makes me so sad-angry how much I missed out on because I grew up in an environment that could not appreciate Ravel.

Daniel Barenboim is one helluva good Debussy interpreter, conducting or at the piano.

Once Ravel was so dissatisfied with the way an orchestra had played this piece that he told the conductor "It is Pavane for a Dead Princess, not Dead Pavane for a Princess."
