REI Presents: Adventure in Real Life

With it's high price, complicated logistics, and language barriers, planning a trip to the distant Patagonia can feel extremely daunting. Many people put an eighteen day trip to the end of the world on their bucket list or Pinterest board and it haunts them for years as they wait for enough money or a free schedule. Sure, there may seem like a lot of obstacles, but when we’re talking about watching the sunrise hit the towers of Torres del Paines, we believe it’s worth it.

We're not careless, or some modern traveling hippies. Heck, we’re simply a group of social workers, marketing directors, nannies and construction workers, but we believe Patagonia’s awesomeness is accessible to anyone who wants it bad enough.

What an epic and honest video! I love how it shows that the real, messy world actually has so much more to offer than a carefully edited depiction of adventure. I think sometimes people (myself included) get caught up in trying to manipulate their experiences to better match watch they think the experience should be, rather than embracing what is really happening. This is a great reminder to live in the moment and make the most of every adventure!

Very inspiring video and story post. So often we spend our time daydreaming about an adventure, talking about someday. And it's awesome to see these friends decided that today was the day. It was also great seeing the reality of their journey, the obstacles they faced rather then the perfection that so many others strive for in their stories. A true journey.
