Join us, Museum of the Albemarle, as we explore and discuss with Sharon Meade, Curator and Community Services Liaison for the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education, as she presents Hunt Clubs of Currituck County.

In the 50-year period from the 1870s to the 1920s more than 100 gunning clubs and lodges were established in a 100-mile-long area of Back Bay and Currituck Sound. Ms. Meads will discuss how this change created a cottage industry and altered the lives, laws, education, and people.

Please join the Museum of the Albemarle as we explore creative ways to offer programming while meeting State of North Carolina guidelines.

Thank you to Southern Bank for their donation toward our virtual programming. We appreciate your community support and sponsorship to our non-profit support group - Friends of the Museum of the Albemarle!

I visited many of these clubs while they were still in operation. Hated to see the northern Outer Banks developed. By the mid 70's the handwriting was on the wall. An unspoiled area lost forever.

Very informative but the format is not fun to watch. Video editing is pretty easy these days ladies.
