In Australia, police can stop cars for a random breath test whenever. It takes two minutes so usually it’s no issue for anyone doing the right thing. If you blow over you get taken for further testing and usually get a notice to appear in court and licence ban until then. Fines are not given for driving under the influence of alcohol just a court date or arrest then bail.
