Evernote SUCKS - Nevernote

Evernote sucks 8/10, you’re better off using Notion or OneNote or really anything else. I'm not a fan of Evernote's pricing structure, but I’m also disappointed that every feature on the home page is behind a paywall. How do you feel about Evernote vs Notion, OneNote, or any other note-taking app? Let me know in the comments!

Two features keep me in Evernote: 1) OCR of pdfs/images, including handwriting; 2) offline access. As soon as Notion has those, I will happily switch.

The 'new' Evernote does suck. But I still use the Legacy desktop version almost every hour, almost every day for the last 13+ years. There are still some things it does that are much better and quicker than anything else I've tried. But the mobile, web and new desktop versions are still unusably slow for me. I'll keep using it until they get rid of the Legacy version and then it's an end of an era .

Once I sign in to free 14 days of Evernote and after that, without any notification, they just took 89.99$ euros, that's why I am never again going to use Evernote! And is an impossible mission to take a refund.

I still use Evernote which is much faster than notion.
Notion is just slow and sucks so much on phone.

I totally agree with you. The pricing of Evernote is clearly a shame. But vpn is your friend. (I just pay 1€ per month. 🇧🇷❤️)

I just use notion for team work but I’m much more productive with Evernote + todoist (and some Zapier stuff) than notion. All of my client hate (really hate) to work on notion and they are : director of agencies, devops, dev full stack, creators, seo, veterinaries. All of them think they loose more time with notion. They are right. You could say « you don’t know how to use it and/or don’t make it simple ». But no I use notion since the beginning. It’s just specialised for specifics things. They are good for db but for the rest, I loose time.

- so few features that you have to go to the essential

- desktop clipper
- I don’t want to think always « how can I make it simpler »
- mail to Evernote (without use an automation tool)
- search incredibly fast and precise
- ocr

- fucking buggy on phone
- sync slow
- shitty phone app but better than notion
- price (still unbelievable to pay this price for a stupid simple note app)
- home dashboard totally useless
- may be the worst todo system of the market (too much friction).


I m just waiting Microsoft loop which look the best promise actually.

Dude. I tried them all. From Obsidian over Standard Notes to Apple notes, etc...
I dropped Notion the second it didn't work offline.

Evernote's killer features:
- OCR
- .jpg-Scans are searchable = Goodbye to storing mailed documents like it's 1995
- Best search bar across all.
- Easy to use.

+ a very decent implementation of tons of popular tools (Document scanning, Works offline, Nested tags, Audio recording, Markdown-like syntax, Sketching with pen, Home screen, Reliable syncing across devices).

Good quality has a price. Welcome to reality.

I just went back to Evernote and I really like Evernote's Home screen and how tasks are integrated into the would rather use Apple Notes(best note taking app), reminders, and email. The integration with Apples products needs more continuity. I want to see reminders in Apple Notes(note the checkbox version), I want to send emails to Apple notes to follow up on, not the experience I was looking for. Also, I use windows for work, apple for mobile/tablet. I need a better browser experience or windows app for Reminders and Notes.

So I had Evernote on my desktop and I couldn’t use Evernote on my work desktop because of security issues. So I would have to use the web app which had a horrible time syncing everything across the board. I would type notes in and would come back to my home computer and realize that nothing synced through the web app. Notion on the other hand did install without administrator permissions and so far everything has been syncing flawlessly

Notion doesn't OCR images. In part, that's the hook Evernote has in me. Regardless, I'm still hunting for an alternative which I can use to import my past notes.

Before Notion, I used to use Evernote religiously, but after Notion took over, lol it literally *took over*. I no longer use *any* note-taking apps, any to-do list apps. I use Notion literally for everything and I am very happy with it so far.

Okay so question for you, because I’d love to drop Evernote. Basically, I use it as my filing cabinet. I haven’t found such a powerful tagging feature in other document storage apps, and while Notion is better for organization, I don’t really like it as a filing cabinet. Is there something else I can use?

I very try to like it and support it. They disappointed me as client at highest level I could never imagine. Stupid dumb app where you try to organize, but you can't cause they don't allow to custom order your notes and notebook. I like the way they manage images as Paper Dropbox do they should all do that with images

The problem of the new update is that it uses too much memory. Just opening the Evernote app instantly burns up 1GB of RAM, and it peaks up to 2GB during editing. I guess it's time to migrate, but I feel overwhelmed when I'm facing 1000+ notes move. Maybe Notion will do? I'm not sure.
