Global Precipitation Mission (GPM) First Light

This visualization shows the first data to come from the GPM satellite taken on March 10, 2014 while it passed over a cyclone. The GPM satellite observes different types of precipitation using 13 different channels. Scientists analyze this data and use it to calculate light to heavy rain rates and falling snow within a storm.
