I just wanna take a moment to appreciate Charlotte's editor, because they do such a good job of lifting Charlotte's humour and content to a higher level!

If a dress is listed at a high price at a real bridal store and then you see the “same” dress 90% off on a website, you aren’t getting the same dress! The old saying, “if it’s too good to be true, it probably isn’t true” definitely works here and “you get what you pay for”

Charlotte is right about clothing. I still have vintage pieces from the 60s-90s that are still in immaculate condition after years of use. If you buy the right style, it is timeless. Quality counts.

I am watching this on my 18th wedding anniversary. When the donut cake came up, it made me smile. The what I wanted not what she got, sorry bestie. My husband and his late father used to go to a local donut shop every week since he was little until he passed. It was a very special tradition and memory for my husband. We knew we wanted to honor that memory and my late FIL. Since he unfortunately passed 6 months before our wedding. We asked the donut shop and they were excited to honor him. Everyone loved my FIL. I told them since they had known him for over 30 yr, they could do what they wanted for the groom's "cake". They created a beautiful 3 tiered "cake" made from donuts. The top tier was made with my FIL's favorite donut. They also surprised us by having a local cake shop create a model of their counter. It had my FIL and his coffee along with my husband as a five yr old. They sent a note of congratulations saying, they wanted to honor my FIL and the first time he brought my husband with him to the shop.

My brothers friends sister ordered her wedding dress on Etsy. When I heard that I was like 😬. Apparently, the seller was SUPER meticulous, updated the sister throughout the dress making, AND made sure to triple check the sisters measurements before shipping out the dress. Fit her like a glove when she got it.

Runway models are often stitched into gowns. There is a team backstage who's entire job it is to make that dress look amazing on that model, and they are armed with serious numbers of pins.

While I can't defend all the cakes, sometimes it IS a client's fault. I used to work as a professional decorator and people would bring in those big fancy cake pictures but they did NOT want to pay for them so they would change the sizes, or the styles to be within the budget they had OR they just straight out thought they knew more than us so I've seen posts like that before and feel like we're only getting one side of the story there.

I remember there was a bride complained about how the dress looked nothing like her order. Then the store replied saying that she wore it inside out…

Speaking of foam cakes, at my wedding our cake was all foam besides the small piece we cut and fed each other... then they took the cake to the back to "cut" but really had a huge sheet cake back there that they served. Saved us so much money!

My wedding cake would fit this category😂. I had gone through a professional and loved their idea but last minute a friend said she would do it for free. She showed me pictures of other cakes she’d done and they looked nice! So I did… it did not go well. I’m not upset though because she’d let her kids and my son and niece help through the whole thing. They all had a blast and made memories doing it so that’s what makes me happy. And others thought it was neat too after finding out the kids essentially made it lol

There's a reason why wedding dress cost what they cost: fabric is expensive, the work on those pieces are incredible hard... I can't see the logic behind thinking a $100 new dress made in China would look anything like the picture 😅

From a sewist: the modeled dresses have a lining and corset type boning under the bodice lace. The boob pads are needed because the bodice is way to sheer. (Cheaper). There is no structure to the gown without boning. Many of the dresses also require huge crinolines ( not just hoop crinolines ); these dresses lack any crinoline. I guess they assume that you buy your own. They cost a fortune, and, if you know a seamstress, they take forever to make. Some costume warehouses may rent them out.
Wedding dresses are expensive. Try getting one at a sale at a reputable wedding shop. You will almost always need expert alteration by a seamstress.
Some wedding shops sell out their samples, and they have to have samples in all sizes. They need a good trip to the cleaners, but can be a good deal.
Don’t forget to check out long white, or cream dresses at formal wear shops. Many sleek styles can be found there.

The issue is that these promotional pictures, of the clothing on sites like Wish and Shein, are one off hand made things by master seamstresses/tailors and then pinned to the model to make it look like it fits perfectly. The clothing that is sold on these sites are made using different far cheaper materials and by people on an assembly line with little to no training in making clothing (so the proportions are way off). For only a couple of dollars a day, making dozens of dresses a day.

In reference to the bouquet:

I didn't meet my in-laws until the reception we held the night before our wedding (yes, we did things out of traditional order. Reception Friday night, marriage Saturday). I had given my MIL the colors I wanted and the general style of bouquet I wanted and then gave her free reign to create my bouquet. She asked if she could make my bouquet, btw. As a result I didn't see my bouquet until after I was already at the reception. Luckily it was gorgeous! She did an amazing job and it was perfect. It still makes me so happy to see it ^_^

Charlotte, would it be possible to leave photos on the screen for a few seconds longer? There really isn't time to see some of the "This is what I got..." photos because they flash on and off so quickly there's no time to pause before the picture is gone. I haven't noticed this issue in previous videos, but several photos in this one literally flashed on screen only for a second or two. Thanks very much, and keep up the good work!

The donut idea is awesome - We had a selection of insanely good gourmet donuts at our wedding from a great local bakery, and had a large oversized Boston creme donut as our “wedding cake” with the most amazing chocolate beer frosting. Our guests raved about the donuts!
We also had a pig roast picnic for dinner and had the ceremony/reception at a brewery, with had a small band for dinner and karaoke for the reception - I’m biased, but I think it was the best wedding ever!

I drew my "dream wedding dress " as a project in high school. Fast forward a few years and I actually found one so close that I thought my picture had been stolen lol!! And it was at JCPennys!! Not a bridal shop. I was able to buy it for super cheap!

My mom went to the mall without me because I had to work. She found a white prom dress on sale for $100. It looked great. My parents said they would either pay for my wedding or my honeymoon. I chose honeymoon, that lasted a week. Totally worth it. A friend did the photos. We got married on a ceremonial mound in the park. It was beautiful and free. When I had a child and she was very little she called it the mommy and daddy got married park. I’m divorced now but I still loved that she called it that. It was so adorable

The thing about a lot of these dresses is that the dress in the photo has been pinned in the back or even full on tailored to fit that model just for the photoshoot, so it's not just the model's body shape that's making things look different, it's the alterations made to the dress for that photoshoot.

Not that that would do anything for the ones with mesh, or the boobpads. But a lot of the fit comes down to alterations and tailoring.

When I got married, I went to a shop selling dresses from the last season, when they only have 1 or 2 sizes over. The dresses are unworn, perfectly fine. So I got my dress, veil and shoes there. Looked gorgeous and I was very happy with it. My bouquet was made of silk, so I still have it in my bedroom as a decoration. You can also get pre-worn dresses, they're called something like "dresses with a story" which I find a beautiful idea as well
Would love it if Charlotte made videos of two brides wearing/sharing the same dress. Could be family heirlooms as well
