ACTION RPG THE ASCENT!! TRAILER AND GAMEPLAY BREAKDOWN!! THIS GAME LOOKS AMAZING!! ARPG 2020!!

Action RPG is excited to bring you The Ascent developed by Neon Giant! I hope you enjoy the CONTENT!!!

Announced during yesterday's Inside Xbox, The Ascent is a beautiful action RPG that's also coming to PC sometime this year. It's single-player, it's four-player co-op as well, and it's set in a lovely, top-down cyberpunk city that will offer an "unprecedented sense of verticality."

That's from the Steam page, which also says this will be a story-driven game, with a "free-roam play style", looting, augmentations, and perhaps most excitingly, "cyberwear". I'm imagining glowing neon loungewear right now, and you can't stop me. The plot? Oh yes, the plot:

"You play as a worker, enslaved by the company that owns you and everyone else in your district. One day, whilst sent on a routine assignment to make use of your skills with a cyberdeck, you are suddenly caught in a vortex of catastrophic events. The Ascent Group, the largest mega corporation on the planet, shuts down for unknown reasons, causing the automated security systems to go haywire.

"The survival of your district is threatened: rival corporations are trying to force appropriation and crime syndicates are looking to boost their black-market augmentation trade. You must take up arms to stop them from seizing control and embark on a new mission to find out what started it all."

Art style is awesome, looks if Blade Runner and Akira had a baby... :D ... I hope the skills and gear augmentations are meaningful and balanced and I love the fact that you are free to go anywhere and experience the story in your own way! The verticality is awesome, but I agree they need to address the big structures that pop-up in the foreground...
This is Alpha footage though, so all is looking pretty sharp!

Graphics have insane detail for a top down ARPG. I don't know if I'm imagining things, but even decals on the ground from explosions affect the environment permanently.. the forward dash also knocks the debris from impact point, if you pass over...That means they are not just texture decals, but real particle debris.... but that would require a crazy amount of memory if that is really the case.. I wonder how they did it... Awesome stuff!! Great job to the team, it's shaping up really well! Will definitely be playing this :)

** EDIT: Just saw in the description that this game is developed by Neon Giant !!! ... for those who don't know, it's a small studio from people who made Bulletstorm, Gears of War, Wolfenstein and their superstar Art Director, Tor Frick :)

Very interesting! I like that it is not such a linear game..point A to point B....perhaps it's just about searching for the truth for the chaos that just hit them, kinda like what we are going thru right now ugh...maybe you gotta search out the madmen or scientists with the yeah for sure!! ⚡⚡⚡ Luv the fricken laser beams!!
