Olson Engineering Webinar on Geophysical Methods for Assessment of Embankment Dams

Показать описание
This webinar addresses how geophysics can help assess the current state of embankment dams and levees; the most common failure mechanisms in these earthen structures are internal erosion, overtopping, and failure induced from a seismic event. Voids, internal erosion pathways, seismic failure risks, and overtopping failure potential can be determined using a variety of test methods that include: spontaneous potential (SP), electromagnetic induction, electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), ground penetrating radar (GPR), crosshole/downhole seismic (CSDS), multichannel analysis of surface waves (MASW), LiDAR, photogrammetry, and GPS. Slope stability monitoring with interferometric phase radar is also discussed.
