The worlds best golfers are hitting the golf ball longer and longer distances with increasingly faster swing speeds.

You can't watch pro golf without being amazed by the swing speeds and distances that are partly fuelled by impressive golf gym workouts.

Rory McIlroy is one the new generation of golfers with huge power - he's stated adding 30 yards to his drives since he first joined the PGA Tour.

But how can your average weekend golfers even hope to keep up?

I took a PGA Tour style fitness test and got hold of a golf training program just like Rory Mcilroys Workout Plan - I've now been following this golf gym program for 10 weeks.

Here are my results and the answer to the question - DOES STRONGER EQUAL LONGER?

If you would like to get your own Rory McIlroy style Workout Plan, you can contact Precision Athletica using this link:

Thanks for the content. I will definitely start using superspeed and weight lifting. I generally swing my driver 108mph but this inspired me to train to get to 115/120mph! Love it

This is something I've been wanting. I want to incorporate golf weight training into my workouts....i recently got back into gym after heart surgery and I'm 60. Working out and flexibility will be key to playing well moving fwd. I'll be dusting off the Speed Sticks, too.

Gym definitely should be apart of any golfer’s training. Heck even any regular person should be in gym 3-5 times a week. Right now i can top out 130 with driver swing speed ball speed 160. But man so hard to control it.

You mentioned in the video providing a link for a discount for the speed sticks, but I don't see it. Would you provide again?

Awesome video! Looking good. I think you can get 10 mile more out of your swing speed with bioswing dynamics from Mike Adams and Terry Rowles, they are the best

I would argue the statement longer drives equal lower scores. Yes it could help but 75% shots over par really come down to short game. Chipping/Pitching/Putting is what will really help the scores come down at the end of the day. Drives for show, putts for dough.

Good video, 4-5mph increase very respectable

I've seen you post several playing videos, I think you just need to keep more drives in play and work on your wedges and short irons, you won't make many bogeys that way

Your strength is clearly your touch with with your shorter clubs

If you can control your spin and trajectory with your wedge shots you'll save par from anywhere, even from 100 yards. Inside 50 yards you'll be getting up an down more than half the time and you'll be aiming to hole any chips just off the green

You can shoot under par golf with like 95mph swing speed

Good stuff. I think if you combine the training w getting a decent coach, you’ll start to see a lot more gains. We have a guy at our club weighs no more than 145 lbs and hits it 300-310. He’s just got great technique.

One sidebar: be very careful w those resistance bands near your face. A buddy of mine was doing some P90x exercises when one of the bands snapped and hit him in the eye….exploded his cornea. Had a couple procedures, walked around blind for about 9 months in one eye and still not 100%.

Honest congratulations on your improvements in your physical performance.
But to call this an “insane workout routine” is really a huge stretch.
Come back after you’ve seen a garden-variety wrestling or football workout- then you can talk about an “insane workout” routine.

Unless this results in significantly lower scores, then all of this is just minutiae unless the goal is to represent the Australian Olympic team in the decathlon.
