They say it takes a village to raise a child, but in so many things, a village is what it takes. In the case of Alaska Airlines’ “Commitment” airplane, part of the village that created it, was Adè Hogue. Immediately visible on this beautiful plane, are images of Black youth, juxtaposed with a bold and iconic font, with quotes from iconic leaders, Martin Luther King Jr., and Nelson Mandela. Hogue was the brainchild behind the look of this font, which can be seen up close, but still reads boldly from a distance… and rightfully so.

On October 27th, Adè was in a bicycle accident that claimed his life 3 days later. You never want to see a bright light burned out too quickly, yet the artistic and exuberant spirit of Adè will live on, through the decade long existence of the “Commitment” plane and the legacy that it will forever have on the lives that it will help to change, through the commitment that Alaska Airlines has with the UNCF.

Here at Converge, we want to honor and recognize the work that Adè Hogue created while paying respect to the humanity that Adè exudes in his daily life. Fly onward Adè, fly high. Your legacy is cemented here, in our hearts, and in the skies above.
