Shadowsight has been one of the most interesting POV characters in years. The way his dynamic with Ashfur mirrors how an abuser manipulates his victim, even how after freeing yourself from them, you can sort of miss them…

I really connected with Shadowsight and I'm glad that's being portrayed. His relationship with Ashfur was scarily similar to that of someone that hurt me a lot when I was a kid. I'm glad more people notice it and acknowledge the heck he's been through

Shadowsight. After everything that’s been done to him, said to him, still cares so much about those around him. He literally walked through hell for those he cares about.
It’s such a stark difference with Ashfur, who hadn’t been wronged in any way other than when he was killed. And Ashfur wasn’t even seeking revenge on his killer, he was after his ex. Someone he felt entitled to be loved by.
Shadowsight never held it against those who doubted him, yelled at him, or hurt him in any way. Ashfur truly couldn’t have chosen a more opposite cat to attach himself to.
And in the end, despite everything Shadowsight missed him. Ashfur tore himself away from him, just as he thought Squirrelflight did to him. I know those are vastly different but, to Ashfur maybe they’re not.

The fact that Shadowsight is Ashfur’s great-grandnephew too is so sad. This animation is stunning and has such a wonderful sense of atmosphere. Feels foreboding, and it’s so depressing that even with all the manipulation and shit he experienced because of Ashfur, Shadowsight still feels connected to him.

The ending scene, where Shadowsight is looking at the light beyond the dark cave, definitely broke me. Especially with the pomegranate and all of the cats he believed he had let down. In fact, in the books, Shadowsight believed that he should have _stayed_ in the Dark Forest, and Spiresight had to snap him out of it. Shadowsight had such an exhausting life that he believed he should’ve just stayed in literal cat hell, because of all of the cats he believed he brought down. He deserves so much more I want to hug him <3

Granted, I have not read these books, but god something about 1:08 onwards just makes me feel heavy. Shadowsight looks so tired and worn away by everything that's happened to him, he almost looks hollow. The different cats looking at the camera feels like they're looking at Shadowsight, and from his view it feels like they're looking at him in either concern or just blankly, and then there's Ashfur looking at him disappointed and angry in the end. And the berry rotting away along with just the music playing...it just hits you how exhausting of a life he's lived, and it shows with his eyes in the end
Also, I adore your Shadowsight and Snowtuft designs! I love the broken iris look on Snowtuft, and I've always liked the idea that Shadowsight has a bit of a lazy eye. This amv is so, so well done

I love the feeling it gives off. The weight of being 'Starclans choosen' like a burden, gift given to you without your consent later turned to a curse so hsavy it weights you down. Always loved Shadowsight

Okay had to come back bc the symbolism after watching two or three times now is sooo good!!

The way shadowsight goes to attack ashfur but when he looks down hes just attacking himself?? OMG?? like its the way he feels one in the same as ashfur and questions whether hes really a good cat if he helped ashfur in the past.

The black, tar-like water/blood that is following shadowsight is so amazing too! Not only is it animated incredibly but the idea behind it ughh. Its pouring over him, it follows in his footsteps and it's in his blood, Shadowsight feels like the darkness is consuming him in the novel and the way you portrayed it is amazing!!

The pomegranate yess!! persephones symbolism is everything and such a good choice for a character like Shadowsight who is trapped in two worlds, the living and the dark forest. He feels as though part of him will always be bad and will always carry Ashfurs darkness, yet he continues on trying to be good despite it. He feels he has a paw in both sides and the way it slowly decays certainly is to show his loss of hope and faith overtime.

The stars are such cute symbolism of Starclan and his faith in them and how at the end he just no longer has any connection to Starclan at all, if it ever even was there. Plus I just adore his design at the end with the blown out pupil, the flopped ear and the scars. Hes so beaten down and tired, he looks hopeless yet he continues trying for the sake of the cats who loved him (Tiger, Dove, Root, Puddle) or gave their lives for him (Snow, Bristle, Spire, Bramble). I love the way all the cats as just non expressive to his exhausted state.

I just love Shadowsight, he is the best boy. I love his thoughts, he is the best representation we've had of an abuse victim (especially since they butchered squirrelflight so badly she somehow came out the bad guy for a decade??) in ages. Its so real, hes so broken but he misses ashfur anyways. He knows ashfur hurt him and cats he loves, but he cant help but admit theres a hole in his chest after losing Ashfur and he misses the way Ash made him feel special. Hes depressed and sad at the end that he never did have a starclan connection, and its honestly such a gut wrenching story. Shadowsight has had a life full of misery and this amv just does such an incredible job of portraying that.

Okay I cannot stop watching this. The smoothness, the symbolism, how ashfur gets more "real" as we get further into the story, the decaying pomegranate.
The song choice is brilliant, your style is fantastic this is just so amazing oml.

Also how Shadowsight "kills" ashfur and he feels like he's also lost apart of himself is portrayed so well. The design of the darkforest to is so eerie. Mostly it's very harsh red lighting but here its a soft yellow and it's so empty, which makes it seem so creepy.

Also how all prophecy sequences are in the shadow just is such a good callback to the book omg. You also showed the amount of control Ashfur has over Shadowsight so well. To Shadowsight Ashfur is someone he feels almost safe with, but there's a clear unnatural disconnect, as Ashfur isn't fully there and when he is it's when Shadowsight sees all his lies and sees what he truly is and then ashfur being glitchy like that. Like Shadowsight can see what he is, but it's really hard to see are of it clearly.

Also how hesitant Shadowsight is to go back. Like everytime he thinks of a reason he should go back it comes back to the pomegranate, which he's like taken a bite of like Peresphone did and now he's stuck in the afterlife, he can't go back, he's apart of the Dark Forest, he's apart of ashfur.

AND THEN AT THE END WHERE THE STAR FADES AWAY THAT'S WHEN HE LEARNS HE HAS NO CONNECTION TO STARCLAN AND IT FADES.

This is such a good amv, one of the best (if not the best) amvs I have ever seen and I am just in awe at the amount of symbolism, beauty of it, the designs, the animation EVERYTHING IS SO AMAZING WHAT THE HECK.

what i really like is how you made the two scenes at 0:04 and 0:45 sort of parallel each other (not sure if it was intentional but it’s a nice detail), with ashfur in the closer view and shadowsight in the further view, and it also kind of reflects on the story, with (a younger) shadowsight seeming in a more positive state and then in a more negative state, all while facing ashfur. this amv is so good and really makes me feel bad for shadowsight :((

went and saw waveform live last night and talked to the drummer and told him my favorite song was easy, he told me that they could play it and they did. I cried a little bit tbh I loved it so much and it made my day.
