You friend is correct. You CAN delete them from your downloads folder. The only reason you want to keep them is if you are trying to manage your fonts. But if you buy your fonts from Fontspring, you can login anytime in the future and re-download any of your fonts.

It really doesn't matter. Both options simply place them in the font folder. However, some older fonts are blocked by FontBook with errors saying they are corrupt. When in fact, thousands of designers are using them without issue. So if you have a font that you feel is credible and FontBook won't install it, you can install it manually a little easier.

Apple's Font Book is for amateurs only, with few fonts, as soon as you add more fonts it becomes unresponsive, takes up 100% of the CPU, and it takes forever to load.

Can fonts that are found in MS Word for Mac be added to Font Book so they can be used in Mail?

So what's better installing them via FontBook or manually? I don't understand? Does it even matter?

Question, so once I've installed  them to fontbook, what happens if I delete the font files that remained in the 'downloads' folder? it's safe to just delete them?  or should I store the files somewhere else? thank you.

( I have so many fonts I downloaded in my download files because I'm scared that if I delete them from the downloads font, they will dissapear from font book, but someone told me if I install them with fontbook, it's like it copies the font so it doesn't matter if I delete the original download folder with the font. )  is this correct?
