I have been trying to find this place I visited as a kid. All I remember is my mom called it the Highlands, and we had to drive up this mountain for what seemed like forever. This might be it. We lived in north GA, so NC would make sense.

Born here and still living here. Some places are high end, but lots of small local favorites too, you’ve just got to know where to look. So many trails and beautiful things to see. Cold and empty right now though😂

Hasn't changed to much since I was there, be a lovely area to live or have a RV spot, people very welcoming with some brilliant shops, well done!....ATB!

Headed there the 17th of January for a couple of weeks. I'm very blessed, my son owns a vacation home there & we go about once a year. Couldn't go there otherwise 😊. We love Highlands but it's a little too rich for our blood but I do enjoy window shopping. We don't eat out much either since his home has a very well stocked kitchen. We also love the little surrounding towns, Cashiers, Brevard, Franklin & we can drive over the mountain to Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge if we want to mostly we just love relaxing & driving around looking at the waterfalls.

Should call it "High End, NC". That's no place I would ever visit, so thanks for showing it to us. $300 for a shirt? Is it a magic shirt? Does it grant wishes? Needs to do something pretty amazing for that cost.

Just visited Highlands NC & it is kinda high class but not snobby. Prices are reasonable...Not like Vegas or Orlando where they literally price gouge everything! Highlands is super pretty & chill with very friendly ppl.

Nice video but Highlands isn't as "upedy" as you make it out to be. Act as if you belong, and be comfortable in your skin, it's as simple as that. Sure, it's an affluent demographic that visit's and lives in Highlands NC, and it does cater to those that desire higher end products and lifestyle. It's more beautiful than parts of Palm Beach and Sarasota FL. If you're on a budget, You should've gone to the Pizza Shack. Their prices are the same as any local joint. The Ugly Dog restaurant has great fare and the prices are realistic. Now Old Edwards Inn is a different story. It's a five star establishment so it is what it is. I've been going there to vacation for over 17 years and my family love it. We're not wealthy but we love that its a great place to relax and feel the cool fresh mountain air. If you want airbrushed t-shirts and tourist traps, go to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. I enjoy it there too, don't get me wrong. I've come from living in government housing back in PA as a kid and I never felt out of place in Highlands. It's all in your frame of thought. As for your video being told to stop, trying going to some art shows and try to do video. They'll all tell you to stop. Give it another visit and just relax. The Southern charm will warm you up. On another note, You should go walk The Hampton's in NY and see how you're received. Thanks again for posting.
