When people say private jet, I'm pretty sure they are referencing not having to share the space with other people. Thus, it is a private experience, not referencing the use case or ownership structure of the jet.

I know a retired man that chartered a jet to bring his family to Disney and then paid the extra for the “skip the line pass”. He said it was the most fun the family had together with the grandkids. He also said it was about $105, 000. As a humble young low middle class man, it blew my mind lol

Honestly, still one of the coolest things ive ever experienced. During one of the major hurricanes i got flown out by a company leer jet becsuse they wanted good private security to stop looters and we get special passes from the governor to go past roadblocks and basically disregard most traffic laws. It was a ton of fun, and not having to deal with the TSA when flying with guns is always nice.

Something that is not readily available to the public is generally considered to be private thus private jet and also those who can afford it will use it for leisure prosposes

Our company had two corporate jets. One was for HQ and others. I had the pleasure to book it for business a few times. It was mainly used by middle management and engineering, but you could get bumped by the CEO. Our other jet was primarily for their use, but again, it was for engineering troubleshooting job site problems.

Most importantly, when it's registered to a corporation, you can claim the need of it's use for work purpose. Just like a company buying tickets in business or first class, the jet expense can be declared as work expense to the tax department. They become deductible - and you get to enjoy luxury.

At work, we get training when working with customers. They always warn 1000x to avoid giving lavish gifts such as travel, hotels etc. Yet themselves the top bosses fly in private jets and that is fine

What you are trying to say is that people use it for personal reasons but declare it as “business” expense 😂

The info you give is interesting, but I don't think most people refer to private meaning it is privately owned, but mostly that you can fly on your own/ your own company. Even if a very rich individual would own it through an SPV, I would consider it to be a private jet even though it is 'corporate' ownership.
