The Sony A7II 5 Axis IS Test for Video vs A7s

Just testing the Sony A7II for video and how the 5 Axis IS works with a native lens as well as a Leica M lens (50 Noctilux). Between the A7II and A7s there is a HUGE difference showing just how powerful the 5 Axis is for video.

I wish you had compared the A7m2 against the A7s with a OSS enabled Zeiss lens for a slightly more practical comparison rather than using the Leica glass. Any chance you could do an additional video with that comparison if it wouldn't be too much trouble?

Love your work but this video is recklessly dangerous in the beginning with the filming on railroad tracks + while driving. I investigate railroad fatalities for a living & more people than you expect get hit by trains due to distraction. Stay safe.

I noticed the stabilizer works better when zoomed in more than if it were to be wide. The car scenes are looking great! I'm excited for the Sony a7s2!

Steve, I really appreciate taking time to comment. I would love to have that A7s for its amazing high iso performance. I just hope that Sony upgrades it to a model that can do 4k video in body. The A7s has outstanding clean 1080p, but I read that the 4k video is not as moire and artifact free and clean as the GH4 at 4k. Oddly enough the GH4 has artifacts at 1080p which is just the opposite of the A7s. They might be doing some line skipping at 1080p on the GH4. What a bummer because I want clean 1080p at 60fps. Keep up the informative videos!

PLEASE TELL ME: if you combine the 5 axis stabilization with other stabilization i.e. a small one handed gimbal, would it be even better? what if you combine it with optical stabilization on a lens? does it improve? and lastly combined with stabilization in post? can you combine these things to make it even better? I can see when you use A7s to record videos there are many details on the tree and the wooden chair even though it show some shakiness. It's still very sharp. When you use A7II it looks very steady and moving smoothly but the image is not that sharp. Not many details on the subject that you we're focus on. Can you explain that different? Thank you.

For video, I think the quality of A7s is far superior to A7ii. Hopefully there's going to be an A7s mark ii soon with stabilization because the A7s currently has terrible rolling shutter and other issues. Here, the video from the A7ii was softer than A7s with the same lens. Was it the settings or do you think the 5Axis will inevitably cause image softness the same way stabilizing in post does?

I think Sony A7 series (and the upcoming A9) will prompt the stubborn  and arrogant duo (Nikon/Canon) to finally take mirrorless seriously, and produce serious mirrorless full frame cameras before many of their loyal owners (me included) to be fed up and dump their Nikon/Canon system and switch to Sony.
