I love how the courts heard that Lori was threatening her husbands life and then gave custody of the kids over to her. Absolutely shameful.

i can only hope her sister is doing better

It's absolutely possible to drown without water in the lungs. It's called dry drowning and it's been identified in 10-20% of drowning victims. As a person inhales water their airways will close to prevent it from entering the lungs, it's called laryngospasm. This also prevents people from breathing as long as this reflex is active. In most cases, once hypoxia sets in the laryngospasm relaxes and water is inhaled once the person is unconscious, but in some cases the airway will stay closed, resulting in a person drowning without water entering the lungs.

I deeply appreciate your last statement. "Do you really have a choice if all of your options are bad?" Very well said, and sadly resonates with me.

Rest in peace Kelly. Life's weird. Your life could have been any of ours. You deserved better. You deserve to be remembered.

That's so tragic, Kelly's story. She was a victim, through and through, on so many levels. At least her killer was caught fairly immediately, but her entire life was just adults failing her again and again. My heart to those who loved her, those who have family in this situation, and those are themselves...

Thank you for your kind words about the former El Dorado Jane Doe. She didn't deserve what happened to her. It really struck me seeing that she'd been born only a couple of years before me. 😢

So Charles asked for a Divorce and requested a protection order against Lori because she "threatened to murder him and have an angel help dispose of his body". He said "he feared for his life and the lives of his children", and the Court gave her the kids?! The Court system is so fucked against fathers its sickening. The Judge basically handed those kids to their executioner.

Thank you for your compassionate take on the last case. Kelly deserved so much better in life, and we could all learn to be kinder to one another.

Good job on Kelly's case. Truly a heart breaking short time in this world. Her life seemed to have been stolen by many. 💔

I love how respectful you are to the victims. So many true crime channels sensationalize their deaths and it really is horrible. I find you present the stories in such a gentle way that highlights the victim's lives and doesn't try and exaggerate for views. Thank you for treating these people's stories with the dignity they deserve.

I love how compassionate you comments were at the end of the video. I worked in the sex industry for over 20 years and most people are super judgemental about others who happen to be struggling and as a result having to live life making decisions they never thought they'd have to stoop to .

I feel so bad for Kelly. She tried everything she possibly could just to get by despite the shitty hand she'd been dealt, and all she got for it was a terrible end...

i could get behind the smiley face killer theory a little more if it was the SAME style/color smiley face at every crime scene but they all look totally different and are in different colors. some of them look quite faded which indicate they weren’t painted on freshly. i think people are just looking for coping mechanisms and creating something that isn’t there so they don’t have to accept that most deaths in young men are simply tragic accidents and happen for no reason

Edit: allow me to clarify, i don’t believe in this “theory” in the slightest.

Kelly's case pisses me off so much. Sex workers are people too. They have families and loved ones who would miss them. They deserve to know what happened. Everyone deserves a name on their gravestone

As someone who works with people not that unlike Kelly, I appreciate your words so much. I had never heard about Kelly's case but from the beginning of your introduction my heart was breaking and I didn't expect any kind of resolution. Thank you for sharing her story and for your very true words about not judging other people. You will never know what it is like until you run out of options which is more likely to happen than many people think.

Kelly's case is heartbreaking. She deserved none of what happened to her

I LOVE your off script ending. It's true, and the world would be a better place if more people could recognize that.

I grew up with a rocky and unstable childhood, and ended up homeless, addicted to drugs, in an abusive relationship with no sort of family support. I chose to run from my problems, maybe in an attempt to outrun them, I don't know. Anyways, I ended up over 3000 miles away from any one I knew.

While I am grateful for the opportunity to change my life and deal with my past so it doesn't control my future, I could have easily ended up as a Jane Doe somewhere.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. People who are stuck in a position where they have no control over the circumstances and are FORCED into making decisions that they wouldn't normally make...they're not going to just lay down and die. Our survival instincts will push us to do things we would never have imagined ourselves having to do.

I think having a supportive family is something that is taken for granted. People don't understand how deep of an impact it has to have family that abandons, mistreats, or abuses you. We understand the world based on our experiences, and if someone has had the people they should be able to trust betray them in some way, that's how they view the world...through a lens of mistrust. We learn how to get what we need by figuring out what works for us, whether that's positive or negative. It's just survival.

Whenever I hear about tragedies like this, or people growing up to be incredibly evil, MOST of the time, the families played a large part, whether through actively harming someone, or simply ignoring or brushing off concerning behaviors or issues. NOT doing something can be just as detrimental as doing something directly, especially when you are the one responsible for protecting the vulnerable. Life isn't always fair, and some people get dealt a pretty crap hand in life. They should be held accountable for any wrongdoing that created victims, but they should NOT be further shamed, looked down upon, forgotten, ignored, or preyed upon.

Many, many people are just one or two decisions away from being in that position, although they don't realize it and would NEVER admit it. We as humans need each other. Kindness and compassion are so valuable, yet seem to be increasingly rare. A little compassion can go a long way for someone who hasn't experienced it in a while.

Thank you SO VERY MUCH for presenting the "Jane Doe" story in such a respectable and considerate fashion. I completely agree with the philosophy of "walk a mile in someone else's shoes" and wish that our society valued that philosophy, instead of judgment and callousness. Love your Channel!!
