I had to turn to powerline adapters recently to be able to get ethernet to a room in my house that had no shot of having hardline internet. and i was asking the same question... geez.. do powerline adapters work? I really need this to work for my 100% remote job, but I just dont know what to do.

I'm pretty sure the adapter needs to be plugged into a wall outlet and not into a surge protector. I may be wrong though... (this may be why your signal isn't so good.)

These can work very well and I've used them for years. To help eliminate interference, plug devices like wall-wart type power supplies into a surge suppressing power strip. The Powerline Adapters need to be plugged directly into the wall. Your other devices like laptop power adapters, etc. can cause interference and reduced performance plug into surge suppressing power strips.

Did you have your receiver plugged into an extension? You get bad speeds like that, put it straight into the wall and you get the best speed, I learnt that the hard way

question, Honestly, have you ever noticed any interference from Radio Frequency Interference (RFI)? I recently had someone claim that RFI was causing issues for me, but I haven't noticed any difference in my internet connection. Before switching to fiber, I was only getting around 400 Mbps, so I'm quite happy with the speed improvement.

You should not connect Powerline adapters to UPS, they can filter out the signal afaik, that might explain the amber led you have.

At 2:12 you're showing a clip of your device testing your internet bandwidth/speed, this is not the same as the speeds advertised on the in-line power adapter. The power adapter speeds of let's say 1 Gbps reflect the transmission between the devices using the adapter, in this case your PC and your home router. This is also a theoretical bandwidth as you alluded to a bit. But in short, to use a speedtest online like that to test the speed of the adapter is not how you would get accurate results as the results would be coupled, the first input being the adapter speed itself to the router and the next input being the speed from your router to your ISP's edge node.

I use a pair of PowerLine adapters to connect my computer to a wired network outlet in another room, mainly due to my room being a deadzone for our WiFi network. This all started when latency for Planetside 2 was getting too much.

You may have lower speed, higher latency, lower quality powerline because of solaredge or enphase microinverters
No you cannot do much about this, as it may be your neighbour, who have those
