While I'm happy Jack has a happy ever after in the game. I like how in the original when the sunlight shines through the fog, revealing the beautiful land that will no longer be touched by the evils of Aku.

I don't know why, but the thought of Jack alone in the past, is so painful for me to think about. Thinking about him fighting for years, finding love, and then ending up alone, is way too sad for Jack. He didn't deserve that.

New ending was good, but there's just something about the original ending that still hits you way harder than the new one.

Besides of course Ashi surviving, notice the difference between the ending of the show and this one? The original had the light shine on everything but Jack, despite him overcoming his heartbreak over losing Ashi. It reflect the bittersweet ending of the show. This game, on the other hand, had light shine on not just everything but both Jack and Ashi as well, helped by the scene initially lighting up slightly when Ashi reveals herself to have survived erasure. This reflects the full-on happy ending of the game.

Now to make it perfect here is my head cannon for the 2020 ending:

Samurai Jack realized that since Ashi did not vanish, the timeline where Aku's evil is law also exist. This means that by destroying Aku he made an alternative timeline. Jack wishing to help his friends in that timeline, dresses up as the battle King we saw in the episode where he found and fought the Portal guardian and decides to battle him again. Jack now successfully beats him as the prophesy stated and uses this portal to travel in the future in the original timeline to free his friends from Aku. He travels back, goes to Aku's tower where the rebellion happens in the last episodes of season 5 and defeats him again, freeing people from Aku. He then says goodbyes to his friends and once again goes back to the past in his alternative happy timeline.

The end.

Not gonna lie I don't really prefer a specific ending. It really depends if you want a happy ending or a bittersweet ending.

What sells it for me is the music, it makes me cry like a fountain, would listen for hours

i don't know if this detail was intended or not, but i love how the tree feels more complete when jack is with ashi.

The original ending is the best not because it was a sad ending but in the end it just makes you think what a god damn journey.

As sad as Jack being alone appears to be I believe it captures Jack's resolve in such a beautiful light. Even though he deserves a reward his actions were never for self gain. It was always for the world and watching that ladybug and seeing the blossom was all the reward Jack truly wanted. I don't see it as sad, very much at all. The peace Jack brought to the land brought him more than enough peace than I think Ashi brings. Having Ashi is really kind of nice, but I almost feel like it cheapens Jack's inner journey. The emphasis becomes about Jack being happy and the romance instead of the peace that was earned in the land.

New ending. Because that's what I wanted all along. A happy ending to a grand adventure

the new ending is the one it should be, but the first one is the perfect one to conclude the series and for people who grew up with this cartoon is a message telling to accept the bitter sweet ending but remember what made our childhood great and the happiness that would always be with us in our memory. ashi is specifically this symbol . jack realised this and therefore he s not sad anymore. as much as we don t want the first one, we need it.

Can't believe it took 3 years to give us a more satisfying ending. Not that I'm complaining I just this was one of those things we had to accept and move on. Glad this ain't one of them.

In all honesty, I prefer the original Samurai Jack ending over the secret ending. The original ending just makes more sense to the context of Samurai Jack's story than the secret ending does. To me, the secret ending was a what if ending for fans who didn't like the original ending. While Samurai Jack of all characters deserved happiness at the end of his story, regardless of whether he destroyed Aku in the future and remained there or if he returned to the past and destroyed Aku there, Jack was always going to give up something for his victory. In the case of Ashi being the key to returning Jack to the past, it made sense for Jack to lose Ashi in order to defeat Aku. A bittersweet ending was sadly the best way to end Samurai Jack; not a happy ending that comes out of nowhere and makes no sense.

Either ending works. I slightly prefer 2017 as it makes more sense due to the time traveling as well as making the ladybug in the scene MUCH more meaningful to Jack (in the newer ending the ladybug is used practically as a bait and switch for the fans who expect the bittersweet ending making it more surface level than the connection it had in 2017's ending).

I'm going to assume the pocket in time Aku created was what kept Ashi from erasing from existence.

New ending. It was how Ashi died for me. If she had died right when she said she felt Aku leave her I would have been more ok. Her dying at the wedding felt manipulative to me. Honestly though Jack deserves to be happy.
