Your peers don't treat it well or appropriately. THAT, is the biggest frustration. Even when I was FINALLY (after 2 decades of not knowing why I was falling asleep all the time and inappropriate times) diagnosed, the doctors were skittish (At Best) at trying to treat me and reduce the EDS/Hypersomnia aspect. Modafinil nor Sunosi helped me. At all. Both taken appropriately and max doses met. 2 different doctors threw their hands in the air and said there's nothing else they could do for me. They did recommend Dr. Thorpy but his office doesn't answer the phone.
The worst part of narcolepsy is FINALLY getting diagnosed and then being told you're a difficult case and can't be treated.
